9th or 10th man. So this makes the cavs very very deep. He is a decent player, nothing special. can guard SF's and the 3pt line.

very deeep team.

This move has very little impact on anything. His overall impact on the win/loss colum of the Cavs will be zero.

times infinity.... if you're gonna go for a backup, why not joey graham. he and lebron have the same game, OBVIOUSLY not the same talent however. joey is an above avg defender, and can penetrate and finish with authority. dumb move for the cavs, who were said to be in talks with joey anyway, moon DEF aint worth that much.

L. James / J. Moon / D. Green
A. Varejao / J. Hickson
S. O'neal / Big Z

They need help at the 4 spot then they should be ready to go.

I think he is actually going to drive this time.

There's nothing worse than Lebron and Shaq staring you down if you don't play properly.

LeBron will certainly see some time at the 4, just like last season. With the addition of Green and possibly Eyenga (after a strong showing in Summer League), the Cavaliers have some depth (albeit in mediocrity) at the 2/3. LeBron will likely start at the 3 then switch to the 4 when Varejao goes out. So he'll play the 4 at the ends of the 1st and 3rd.

On a side note (to others): "Itz"? "Knoe"? If you're using the same number of letters, then why not just spell it correctly?

bad pickup just another reason for Lebron to leave

How's that a reason for Lebron to leave?

At worst, Moon's a good backup for Lebron. He can spell him and give him extra rest throughout the season that will pay major dividends come playoff time.

wow cavs are wasting their money signing crappy players. their biggest problem last year was having a player who can hit jumpers to open up lanes for lebron to drive into....and this signing DOESNT help them one bit.

moon cant shoot jumpers..... they will have trouble scoring when hes on the floor. im a raptor fan and his stint as a raptor was just bad.

And you were relying upon him to start. He will get limited minutes in Cleveland, but it gives us someone to spell LeBron and possibly play alongside LeBron from time to time.

They needed a lost post center who could score, defend dominant big men like Howard and draw double teams, and they filled that need by adding Shaq. They needed another 3 point shooter who can also defend and they filled that need by adding Parker. I don't like this move that much but they are definitely having a productive off-season.

wow i just ripped you in another thread......time to do it again.

How would this be a reason for lebron to leave??? y dont you go ahead and think more than 11 seconds before you comment son. it has ZERO impact on his decision. I admit, Moon to the Cavs seems like a completely pointless move, but at least the cavs are trying to take a chance on a guy who obviously has a a ton of athleticism. if he learns to hit a J any time in the future, he could be a good 6th man for them.

i agree, warrick could be a solid pick up for them in their attempt to keep up with the great off seasons of orlando and boston.

Well we are making your starters our backups, so let's see what your record would have been if you only played against your opponents second teams last year. Parker will see a lot more minutes than Moon, but both will typically be playing against the other teams backups next year. Good way to pad their stats.

And maybe they are trying to bring in people that will make Bosh feel welcome when he comes to Cleveland. Just kidding with that, I think you guys will have a good year and he will stick with you. I really expect to see you guys in the playoffs and wouldn't be suprised to see Derozen get the ROY.

Players that started for the Raptors... They're gonna be the 7th and 8th men off the bench in Cleveland, playing maybe 20 mins each.

Last time I checked the Raptors didn't have the reigning MVP in LeBron, one of the most dominant bigs in NBA history (who can still play even though he's getting on) in Shaq, and an all-star in Mo... they just had Bosh.

Parker is a good all-around player but Moon will frustrate Cavs fans. I guess these guys will become your starters once Lebron leaves for NY or NJ in 2010!

cavs really knoe how to waste money

couldnt agree more. they wasted money at positions that they didnt need parker for SG? and now moon? whats their identity now? what becomes of delonte west? overpaying varejao was embarrassing. after stringing him along for a year or so and not wanting to pay him decent money they give him more than what he's worth they could have signed turkoglu if they were gonna throw $50 million around. lebron, turk, and shaq now the cavs can call themselves an elite. right now they were the cinderellas and they proved it vs the magic. you dont blow 2 20 point leads at home in the playoffs. cleveland will be a 2 or 3 seed and be out in the 2nd round. and LeBaby can finally get his Knick on. he will not return to cleveland. he loves the spotlight too damn much except when the dunk is on him :D

But he honestly falls in love with the J too much. And the funny part about it is he doesn't even have a nice jumpshot.

No surprise the Heat didn't match. He'll get some minutes and give LeBron a breather but like everyone said he's nothing special. An athletic guy who ends up being a good defender with shaky shooting.

Hey I'm a Raps fan and he was'nt that bad he had skill but was just to stupid to listen to the coach. His first year everyone loved him and was just waiting for the guy to get some moves to drive to the net but if anything he took a step back and fell in love with the 3 point shots. The guy does have some of the craziest hops you will ever see though.

The Cavs only offseason move I don't question so far was adding Anthony Parker, who finally brings some size and good fundamental basketball on the wings.

The most headscratching move was giving Anderson Varejao a superstar paycheck...simply unbearable.

People juat love to hate on cleveland. Who in the world said this is a block buster signing? for real. Nothing more then depth. He's got game.

But he could help the cavs quite abit. We won't be out matched in height anymore. he could have helped alot last season vs the magic.

But he could very well be a difference maker for the cavs. We won't be out matched in height anymore. he could have helped alot last season vs the magic.

Why is questioning something always percieved as hate on these forums?! Gets old. Adding a 360 pound 7'1 behemoth into a well established core will shake up chemistry alot...wether you agree or not, don't get touchy feely when there is valid reason people have doubts these offseason moves makes Cleveland a better team.

This signing just doesn't really help. They are stacked with perimeter guys. They added Anthony Parker, who will help tremendously. But Moon is a highly inconsistent player...apart from the occassional sportscenter highlight he won't add any new dynamic or a serious need. The Cavs needed some frontcourt size and rebounding help. They are too thin up front.

Well the Cavs accomplished their goals this offseason, get an inside presence and elite post defender, get bigger and more athletic on the perimeter.

Stacked with perimeter guys? So LeBron James, Mo Williams, Delonte West, Anthony Parker, Boobie Gibson, and a rookie in Danny Green is stacked? That is a backup at every position. Underneath we have AV, Shaq, Z, JJ Hickson, and Darnell Jackson. That is more than a backup at every position.

That gives us 7 perimeter guys for 3 positions, and 5 post guys for 2 positions. We really are stacking our perimeter though, right?
