"If the Pacers and the Celtics work out a sign-and-trade involving Marquis Daniels, Indiana could end up landing Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine.

The Boston Herald reported on Saturday that the Celtics could offer the Pacers a number of expiring contracts in a sign-and-trade, including those of Allen and Scalabrine."

interesting, but IMO, celtics would get raped by losing Scal

Better for the Pacers than losing Daniels for nothing and Daniels ends up getting much more money than he originally would have.

I honestly don't care who we have to give up. Neither Scal or TA would get more than 5 minutes a game this season barring an injury, so it just gives us a roster spot, and ensures that we can use the LLE on someone else.

Just as long as they arent S&T Jack to Boston I'm happy..

Why would the Pacers even bother? Just let him walk, Tony Allen and Scalabrine aren't going to do anything for Indiana.

I was tripping when I first read the title to this thread, and saw the last name "Allen." Tony Allen makes sense in the trade.

Yeah, Ray Allen would be traded ^^^

I like this move. We get rid of Scals 3 million and T.A's contract and get Daniels for cheap. Hopefully more talent wants to ride the green train to the title for less money :)

I would be sad to see Scal go :sigh:

but then we could possibly resign Glen AND add a backup point guard

I'll miss the whole building erupting every time he entered the game or touched the ball. I'll miss his personality and crazy interviews He was funny. However i wont miss his game when his money is used to bring back Baby an possibly a backup point.

IMO I Dnt Like Scal In That Trade Because They'll Have No Back-Up Pf After That Unless They Get Either Powe Or Davis

Boston Faithful

That opens up two roster spots for virtually non-existent players. Two players, especially Allen who blewe it down the stretch in the playoffs. That's give us room to get back Powe.

This is a great move for the Celtics. They get to trade the back end of there bench Allen and Scal for Daniels and get a free roster spot to get that 4th big and they get to use the LLE on someone else. Win Win deal for the Celtics.

Celts are hooking up with Marquis Daniels for their swingman. They've been trying to trade with Indy for Walker, Pruitt and Allen

Chad Ford's twitter.

It looks like the C's want to hold on to Scal and Giddens for now.

^^I'd prefer that over Scalabrine, we'd have the whitest frontcourt in the NBA.

Didn't Boston just sign Daniels without a trade

I was wondering how Boston had money to get Daniels.

if the Celtics do that they will have enough cash to resign Glen Davis and a pretty decent backuo PG. That would be a very smart move by Boston.

I definitely did too. I was like "Damn I'd really like to know what Indy told them to pull that deal off!"

I love it for both teams. It frees up money next year for Indy to try to land one of the big free agents next season and, it frees up money for Boston this year to resign Baby and add a backup PG.

They've already said that Daniels would sign for the LLE (1.9) if we can't work out a S/T.

LMAO...You are

Let your precious knicks have T.A and his wonderful abilities. He has skills but absolutely no smarts. Is Basketball IQ is looooooow. If we can dump Scal and T.A who are not very good, pick up a key bench player in Daniels for cheap AND free up cash to add to the bench im all for it. Good move Danny.

Haha, the good ol boys. Larry Bird is going to take back expiring contracts for what reason exactly? Pacer fans, I bet you're stoked that your president/GM is ready to send a player to his favorite team, while adding on 2-4 mil in absolute meaningless salary.

He wants expiring contracts to after the big free agents next summer like Wade, Bosh, Allen, Lebron, Joe Jonhson, Stoudemire, Ginobili, Redd, Rip Hamilton. Larry Bird will have plenty of cash to land a superstar next year which is why he wants to make this move. He wants to free up cap space.

Clearly this has to be whats hes thinking. Because theres no way he thinks his current roster can do anything. They'll be lottery bound once again and hopefully pick up a great talent next off season

Super.

I'am assuming that Scal might be bought out and return to Boston.
As for Tony Allen, I'm so happy that He is finally gone from the Celtics.

Getting Daniels could prove to be the most underrated move this offseason. A legitimate two way player to back up Pierce and Allen.

Yes but Scal and Tony have expiring contracts and at trade deadline time it could help Indy to pull a big trade. If the Pacers are healthy and add a big piece to the puzzle at trade deadline time you guys could be a wildcard in the playoffs....or it could free up a lot of money for next summer if you hold on to them.

if this sign and trade deal gets done they gets some money back from the 2 e/c of scal and TA which they can use the money to resign big baby and prob sign a tyron lue too
