Hey guys, Some of you may remember but I conducted a poll at the start of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best.

PF Rankings DONT FORGET TO VOTE!!

1) Tim Duncan
2) Kevin Garnett
3) Dirk Nowitzki
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)
9)
10)

Last Years PF rankings:

1) Tim Duncan
2) Kevin Garnett
3) Amare Stoudemire
4) Chris Bosh
5) Dirk Nowitzki
6) Elton Brand
7) Carlos Boozer
8) Pau Gasol
9) Antawn Jamison
10) David West

Pau will prolly win this poll though, since all the hype of LA winning the ship and the number or Laker fans there are.

Why doesn't anybody realize how much better Amare is than Bosh or Pau? The guy is a beast. Is it because Bosh and Gasol can shoot jumpers? Amare doesn't need to shoot jumpers when he plays, because he's physically superior to every other power forward and can just take it to the rack.

Both Chris Bosh and Pau Gasol have similar games.

They both have a superb jump shot but Chris Bosh in my opinion is a better driver and can shoot the three at times.

ManRam

how is pau even close to bosh

Because Pau is better defensively. Because Pau has a higher PER. Because Pau shoots 56.7% and Bosh shoots 48.7%. Because they are equal rebounders. Because Bosh turns it over much more. Because Pau knows what the word "pass" means. Because Pau is bigger.

Because Pau can handle Dwight. Because Bosh can't. Because Pau is a winner, and Bosh isn't.

OMG, Pau doesn't score as much!!! That's because he's the second option (not a bad thing). I'll take the 3-4 less points a game 3-4 shots less per game any night, considering Pau does just about everything else better.

Look. He's my least favorite player in the league. HATE. But what he did vs. the Magic was impressive. He just gets it done. Great player. I wouldn't mind if he was #2 or #3 on this list.

Seriously? Bosh's ability to shoot the three is the difference maker?? He shot 49 of them all year...and made 12. If anything, that's a liability. He might be a better penetrator...but Pau's post up offensive game is second only to Duncan's IMO.

Not a chance Pau is better. Yes he is a winner but if you trade teams with Bosh no chance he puts of numbers anything close. This of him on the Grizz. I dont think Dirk should have been as high either. Nor should KG considering his age!

stoudamire has yet to take over games and dominate
---neither have led teams to deep runs in playoffs

pau gasol and rashard lewis have led their teams to the Finals (Pau twice)...without Pau lakers prolly aren't in WC finals and def. not nba finals....same with lewis...without him the magic would be really worse off

Again, they didnt get better, they went to better teams. If Pau was on TO and CB on the Lakers this poll would be a blowout.

I'm not saying he's better because he's on the Lakers. I'm saying he's better because I think he is a better individual player, and has more skill.

Pau's stats w/ Memphis=Bosh's stats anyways...so your argument lacks there.

Pau is a better player. Sure, Bosh scores more, but he shoots a much worse percentage, while taking more shots. I'd rather have Pau's length, defense, passing and offensive post skills over anything Bosh brings to the table.

There's nothing Bosh does that Pau can't.

Im not liking the ppl that r saying Gasol is better than Bosh and Amare, but he cant show it kuz he plays for the Lakers. If u were to switch Gasol & Bosh, how do U THINK the teams would fair. Lakers would be a bit better, but Raps would be WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY WORSE. Bosh actually plays D, which ppl tend to 4get, Pau doesn't.

the question is about whos the best individual PF...i dont see how team success is a huge factor in this...the raps made the playoffs 2 straight years b4...last year was just a mess...cant really blame ur best player...

No you're right. I should have said didn't go far in the playoffs.

However, that still does not explain his jump in rankings when his numbers stayed the same (actually everything except for PPG deteriorated) Getting eliminated in the 2nd round instead of the 1st round does not seem THAT big of an achievement.

Of course, unless you are Tracy McGrady.

I should have argued that when the thread for #3 was up.

Definitely a tough call.

I hope everyone can agree that all 3 (Amare, Pau and Bosh) are very good PF's in this league.

To really say who is better, I think you'd have to put them in the context of a team, a coach, a style of play, teammates, etc.

Quickness: Amare, Bosh, Pau
Post Moves: Pau, Amare, Bosh
Jump Shot: Bosh, Pau, Amare
Passing: Pau, Amare, Bosh
Rebounding: Bosh, Pau, Amare
Defense: (They all could use some work - probably give Pau the edge)

I would probably say that Pau is the more well rounded player as he can contribute in more ways. Bosh's combination of quickness and consistent jumper make him very affective and Amare's quickness and explosiveness at the rim make him very affective. Depending on the game, the situation, the teammates, etc etc I may want different players. But if I had to draft a team and could only pick one of these three, I think I would lean towards Pau.
