View Full Version : If Nate goes overseas, who's the Dunk Champ?

Maybe this is a dumb question but how would the Slam Dunk Contest work if he went overseas. I wonder how Stern would handle it if Robinson did go overseas...and then come back in a few years.

If Nate Robinson leaves the NBA, Stern will probably have to be treated for depression because losing a guy that won the dunk contest is worse than Golf losing Tiger Woods.

Maybe Dwight wins it again. I think Lebron said that he was going to put his name into the dunk contest. Maybe he'll win it

If Nate is not around, then LeBron will be the dunk champion. Dwight has already proven that he has hardly any creativity.

Nate should've never won anyway. He is a little punk, is overrated, and can take his Napoleon syndrome to Europe

Nate is over rated.
Who cares about a dunk contest winner who won't rank on the Top 20 dunkers of all time.

James White he can dunk from the FT line

Hopefully Nate stays in the NBA

I pray Nate doesn't enter the contest again anyway. He's old news. You shouldn't be able to do it more than 3 times in a 5 year span.

He has to I think cause he's the champ and he has to defend his title. Sounds a little like boxing or something but I think thats how it is, right????

And even if he doesn't have to defend his title, why wouldn't he want to enter again???? If you won the dunk title you would want to enter again to try and repeat. And if LeBron enters then Nate will probably enter anyways cause he ain't the type of guy to back down from a challenge.

Nate got lucky both times. Dwight should have repeated last year and Iggy was ROBBED a couple of years ago.

LeBron's gonna win it next year, no matter who he's against.

as much as it pains me to say it, nate won because of his size. It gave the judges immediate bone**

I thought Nate's performance last year was weak but Dwight's last years was not even close to his superman year and did not deserve to win. If anything Rudy Fernandez had a shot at showing us something special but we did not get to see it.

I'm hoping DeMar DeRozan gets a chance to display himself at the dunk contest, bu won't Lebron win it automatically just because of who he is?

I wish White would enter, but he's not very well known, and hasn't had any publicity since college

i agree he hasn't done anything creative with the ball but the guy is nothing but creative at the contest. dunking on what a 14 foot board i believe, and not to mention going into a telephone booth to put on the superman cape. the guy has done alot of creative things.

Big News.

it would not be the first time a New York Knick bolts to europe.

and it woudl neither be the first time a Dunk Contest winner bolts to europe.

Kenny The Skywalker is thw answer to the two questions.

Nique is another dunk winner tha tplayed in europe .

Are all of you saying he is over rated as a dunker or overall player? To say he is over rated as a player is ridiculous. Yeah, no duh his height was a major factor in why he won the contests... But if you're taking the "height" route as your argument then what? Do you want a height you have to be in order to be in the contest? Please...

But yeah, I agree part of the reason he won was because he is a little guy.

I don't think he'll go overseas. He'll want to be closer to his family, and keep his son in the US.

No-brainer Jordan Crawford (as soon as he gets to the NBA), maybe he'll even ask Lebron to try to block him again and then Lebron will have the tapes and Crawford's trophy confiscated or maybe just convince Stern to stop the dunk contest all together before Crawford gets to the NBA

I heard that next year, of All-Star '10, they're trying to convince old dunk contest winners to return:
VC
Kobe Bryant
Dwight
Nate
and then trying to get the new guys
LBJ
Dwade
etc.

If that many people are going to be in next years Dunk Contest, then WOW. I'd say it comes down to VC, KB/DWade, and LBJ.

I thought Nate said after last years dunk contest that that was his last one. I could be wrong. I don't really care if Nate is back. The dunk contest has been lame for the last few years. When the dunk champ has to jump of someones back and still wins, you know the competition is weak. 2 years ago the dunk champ won off a layup. You have to go back to 05 to get a decent dunk contest.

I would love to see ex champs
VC
J Rich
Kobe
Josh Smith

but i dont know how much ups they still have. VC and Kobe are startin to creep up there in age.

I personally think the Rockets signed James White just so they could have a player win the dunk contest. I've been kind of excited about him competing against the NBA players in the dunk competition since he was signed.

dunk contest its a joke , and if lebron enters it it will be still worst than this year because it will be prepared beforehand for him to win.

this year was a complete joke qall set up to the stupid kryptonate against superman thing it was horrible Rudy Fernandez got snubbed because it was all set up before hand.
