ok top 5 is regardless of position.

Best 5 posible is positional, you can only put pg as pg center as center etc and you need to have on account at wich point of their careers was the player when in the team. I Mean Watlon was a great player but when on the celtics he was worn out or no making kareem or wilt or shaq play pf because that never happened.

So here are mine

best lakers ever:

1 Magic

2 Kareem

3 Mikan

4 Kobe

5 Wilt

Ok some of the responses on this thread are ********. Just naming names because they were on a certain team and did not contribute for a long time, or at least while they were good is stupid.

Some examples:

Magic- Chris Webber, Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace(these guys either didn't play for the Magic or contributed next to nothing)

Raptors- Hakeem, Billups(these guys did nothing in Toronto)

anyway, here is my team's best 5 and best starting 5

Not a chance in hell Wilt comes off the bench for Kareem. Wilt dominates Kareem in every stat except career points and years played. Blocked shots weren't a stat for the majority of Wilts career. Oh I suppose Wilt didn't have the rings Kareem has but he also never had a supporting cast.

As a Laker, Kareem was better, Wilt's best years were in a Sixers/Warriors uniform. Kareem won 5 titles as a laker, 2 finals mvps, and is deserving of his starting spot on the all time team.

Lakers best year EVER was '71-'72 Wilt played the 5 with little to arguably no star power beside him. Coach wanted Wilt to do more than just score so he only led the league in rebounds and fg% and also had a career low fga/game
71/72 6 fg/g, 9.3 fga/g .649 fg% 19.2 rp/g 4.5 apg 13.2 ppg looking over his stats I would say that he had proved to everybody he could and did score at will over his career and only wanted to make everyone around him better as his 9.3 attempts per would suggest, but, still at 36 could score at will as his 65% fg per game would suggest. Kareem was a great player for the lakers but if I were to build an all-time best Laker 5 Wilt is by far my centre.

Houston Rockets:

PG - Rafer Alston??? Sam Cassel??? Aaron Brooks???
SG - Clyde Drexler / Tracy McGrady
SF - Shane Battier / Ron Artest
PF - Charles Barkley / Luis Scola
C - Hakeem Olajuwon / Ralph Sampson / Yao Ming

yeeea...Houston is really weak with the PG position but we're pretty solid at the 5

You could put Calvin Murphy at Point
