Hey guys, Some of you may remember but I conducted a poll at the start of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best.

You would say Gasol....because you are from Spain. I am a die-hard Celtics fan and am not afraid to admit I am a homer, but Tim Duncan has to be the answer.

I do put Garnett at 2 over Dirk just because of his ability to dominate the defensive end

No way is Gasol over Dirk or Garnett

Only reason people are giving him recognition is because he is on the Lakers.

KG dominated Gasol in the finals, I don't remember his stats, but if they were bad that was because Paul Pierce was Finals MVP. Duncan is much better than Gasol, hands down. Dwight Howard only had 15 points because he's not that good offensively and the guy that was defending him most of the time was Andrew Bynum, not Gasol. And Dirk has been MVP and carried his team to the finals. Pau Gasol couldn't take the Grizzlies past the first round. Gasol is good, but not top 3, let alone first.

actually Gasol was the primary defender on Howard.

In game 5 Gasol guarded Howard on 38 possessions (over half of the game), and didn't allow Howard to score once.

Okay, I was wrong about that, but Howard still is weak offensively. He doesn't have a post game.

In the Finals, Gasol was 28-44 (63.6%) in the paint for 56 points.
Howard was 21-42 (50%) in the paint for 42 points.

Gasol also made 16 points outside of the paint. Howard had none.

More info here (you can see that Gasol played better than Howard in man-to-man matchups on both offense and defense):

There are 1624 reasons in the regular season and 467 in the postseason that disagree with you.

The guy scores 20 points per game religiously. Regardless of how he does it, he does it. And he couldn't do it against Gasol.

By efficiency, it's Dirk Nowitzki. Less than one efficiency point separates Nowitzki, Gasol, Bosh, Duncan. Garnett is #14 in efficiency, right behind Zach Randolph.
By P/A/R, it's Nowitzki, Bosh, Duncan, Jamison.
By value to his team, it's all of the above.
Nowitzki is number one in both efficiency and P/A/R per 48 minutes, so he wins on stats.
If defense counted, Duncan would win.

Dirk doesnt deserve to be in the top 3 he is just an offensive threat. Dirk is nothing but a scoring finesse PF who is eating on the defensive even with his size. When you are your teams go to guy of course you would be rated higher but overall it stands

Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Al Jefferson( his position is the 4 though he had to play the 5 in Minny)
Pau Gasol
Chris Bosh
Amare Stoudemaire
Dirk Nowitzki
David West

0 accomplishments? What about the highest award you can get as a player the MVP, btw a MVP you get when you're a great player, not because of your GREAT team. Pau's not gonna get any individual awards he's gonna keep relying on his team to get where he's going.

No, but you said individual awards mean nothing...so that would be taking stats, all star games, etc out of the equation. So if you do that...then guys like Samaki Walker are better than Malone since they have that ring...according to your logic and Spanish bias.

Not only that...but you do realize that TD has more rings than Pau right? And has been playing at a high level longer. Then you have KG, they have the same # of rings, and KG has been playing at a high level longer as well.

This is the hardest "top 10" poll for me yet. We know Duncan and KG have dominated the league for the past 12 plus years. I find Duncan and KG to be the #1 and #2 PF's of all time, respectfully. But I can't vote for them here. They were both hampered by injuries all season long, KG didn't make an appearance in the playoffs, and Duncan was knocked out in the first round for the second time in his career, I think.

I vote Dirk. Based off LAST SEASON, which is what these polls are based off, he was the best PF, statistically; as far as impact in the playoffs, he was second to only Gasol (this season)

The Mavs knocked out the Spurs, I can't vote for Duncan. I vote Dirk, and I'm takin Pau #2. KG and Duncan are better than both the Euro's, but based off last season, they just didn't produce enough, or have big enough of an impact when it mattered. Dirk.

I went with Bosh, but i know Jamison isnt #1, but he should be on this list, he is a dbl-dbl every game, and he can strectch the D, he plays inside and out.

I can't agree for the first statement because Dirk made it there a got robbed because the ref's cheated for Wade. If you watched that Finals game even though Dirk missed the FT the only reason Miami came back is because of poor refereeing

I have been trying to stress this very statement for years.

once dirk realizes he WONT win a ring as a main man and he joins a contender to eb the second man and wins a ring with his stats not going down too much i will recoginise him as better player than pau.

oh of course i will consider him better once he LEADS germany to a olympcis silver or a world cup gold.......he he he

spain has a lot of good players, germany not, they only has dirk, so its a lot easier that gasol "leads" his team tu a silver or whatever, so dont came with that

are you from spain???

and i dont know why every body says td, he has been one of the greatest, but right now dirk is the bets pf since a few years ago

Dwayne Wade clearly traveled in numerous plays.

Tim Duncan is flat out sick..The guy has the backboard literally memorized..When he turns he doesnt even have to look at the backboard, its like he already has it invisioned..His timing and stroke are the best in the game..He is a true leader..And respectable role model..

Kg is a piece of **** for all i care..Talks trash and swears at hall of famers like Duncan..That was such low class what he did to duncan..Mama raised a fool, his name was garnett..Hope his leg breaks down..What a clown

For some reason Kevin Garnett turned into a punk when he went to the Celtics.

Amare is my favorite player ever, but even I went with Timmy Duncan. He is just the best pf in the game today. He is all about the fundamentals.

Did you seriously try to make a pro-Dirk statement by stating the fact that he leads in a stat that would place Z-Bo in the discussion? Not the best way to be taken seriously in an argument.

tim duncan is not only the best pf in the league today but he is the best pf of all time imo!

has there ever been a poll like this but for all time players at each position?
