Its pretty simple. It will be an extension through 2012-2013 at the max...It is the most that can be offered under the CBA and league rules. If he waits until next summer he can resign throu 2014-2015... Thats the only thing really stopping him from signing...

They offered him a 3 year extension. It would run out 2 years sooner then a contract he could sign after he opts out. Also if he opts out then re-signs he makes 45 million more.

Look for Wade,James,Bosh etc to all opt out then maybe re-sign for the most amount possible, or go to another team eventhough they would not make nearly as much through the contract.

He won't sign, if he opts out he will get a 120M contract, same for LeBroom, I don't think Bosh is worth the Max.

Super.

Too bad he wont sign unless the Heat does something

Wade needs to leave and go to a team that is already good. The Heat won 40 something games with Wade putting up 30 ppg and becoming a very good defender. Miami needs to do really well to convince him to stay.

No. The Heat have not made the splash he wants.

This is what you call irony.

Wade won't sign. LeBron won't sign. None of the 2010 FA class superstars will sign extensions.

And yet...

They all are demanding that their present franchises make major improvements first. How do you do that when you can't attract top role players, because no one knows if your main superstar will stay or leave after this season? And signing top talent usually means increasing payroll and risking lux tax...something that could leave a team in a major hole if the superstar does decide to leave at the end of the season. Catch 22?

This is why teams like the Magic, Celtics, and Spurs will likely benefit from free agency this year and next. Their core players are already in place and signed for the long haul. Even a team like Houston looks promising, if Yao is able to come back after next year. It's starting to look less and less intriguing where Wade and the others will end up. If they want to win a title vs. get paid, their options are few.

Wade needs to go to New Orleans to play with Chris Paul....
Or to Houston, to play with Yao and TMAC, or whichever one stays. And they have all of those great role players there.

I like Houston, too, if they get a healthy Yao back.
