Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will change his uniform number to No. 3 to promote his ‘3 points Darfur’ initiative, with an announcement expected early this week.

McGrady put in the paper work for the uniform change midway through last season and had received league approval. He was making the switch to his high school number to bring attention to his "Darfur Dream Team" campaign and 3 points documentary.

Newly acquired Trevor Ariza will wear No. 1, but could not show the uniform at the press conference last week while details of McGrady’s uniform change were completed.

The "Darfur Dream Team" enlists athletes to help raise funds for schools in Chad for Darfur refugees in a sister school program with schools in the United States. The documentary 3 Points follows McGrady on his trip to Sudan and Chad in the summer of 2007.

I think he really wants it changed because he's cursed wearing that. Maybe his luck will change?

Why change the number if your barely gonna stay on the court? :laugh2:

But I agree, its for a good cause, so no argument here.

Why is everyone thinking he is a bad guy? For what, cuz he ended his year b4 the trade deadline so he wouldnt be traded? He wouldnt have passed the physical anyway so it aint a big deal because no trade can happen if a player fails a physical. Just look back at the Tyson Chandler to OKC trade. But neways the guy has given it his all on and off the court his whole career. He could be known as the best player in the NBA if it wasnt for all his injuries. I really hope that he can come back healthy so all of you can be on his nuts which im sho some of you were at a time in his career. He was once a superstar and he might come back to light and i hope its sooner den later.

All for a good cause I guess.

"The "Darfur Dream Team" enlists athletes to help raise funds for schools in Chad for Darfur refugees in a sister school program with schools in the United States. The documentary 3 Points follows McGrady on his trip to Sudan and Chad in the summer of 2007."

Kudos to him.

All you haters can go suck it. More players should be doing good with the endless amounts of money they have. Bring this guy to NY and maybe he'll finally get some respect.

my sig says it all ive been saying for months, as for the jersey change i have his high school jersey number 3

tr3ymill3r
07-13-2009, 11:13 AM
Those are two of the worse numbers to pick in Houston. I feel as if both are cursed, TMac cursed the #1 jersey and poor Stevie Franchise has the curse of the #3, just ask Bob Sura's knee. Yao needs to change his number too because he has two 1's with 11 on his jersey, get off those numbers get off the injuries.

This is gonna as weird as AI changin to #1 KB from 8 to 24, Jordan from 23 to 45

Tmac has a bad rap because he quit on his team. He quit on orlando. its not cool. great change your number, doesnt really mean much. its a worthy cause, but i think it more of a celebrity stunt, maybe get his name out more. get some sponsors, theres always an agenda with this guys.

I respect his efforts, but dont believe everything you read.

C'mon, it's not like he takes a huge chunk of money out of his 23 million dollar paycheck towards these efforts. He has about as much credibility as George Clooney. Crappy attitude, crappy teammate, non-existent heart. Tracy McGrady, everybody. How many teams does he have to quit on before people stop hanging on his jockstrap?

Thank you. I'm a raps fan, so I was upset when he wanted out, but that doesn't mean he isn't talented, which he most certainly is.
Good luck in the future Tmac!
