Marvin Williams Gets His Deal

As soon as Mike Bibby was inked the Atlanta Hawks turned to free agent priority number two, small forward Marvin Williams. Sources close to the situation have told HOOPSWORLD that Williams is close to multi-year deal with the club that drafted him second overall.

Williams' camp would like to see something in the $40 million range, and the Hawks' initial offer was reportedly around $37.5, meaning the two sides were never really all that far off and something should be done soon.

Flip Murray, another Atlanta free agent, is not expected to return to Atlanta, however. The Hawks just had too many free agents to try and retain, and the most recent rumblings are that Murray is close to a multi-year deal of his own with a different team.

This is a pretty good deal for Williams. Although Williams will never live up to being picked ahead of Chris Paul, he is still a very good, young player. He's still improving too. He added that 3 point shot to his arsenal last season & it made a huge difference.

It doesn't say for how many years. I assume it would be a 5 yr deal.
