the Detroit Pistons are currently without a center and are shopping guard Richard Hamilton. Rip's number also matches up with Dampier's, and again, the Pistons have seen both of their centers sign with other teams over the last few days.
If the Mavericks are serious about adding a shooting guard, which they should be, and about trading Erick Dampier, there are certainly some discussion to be had that accomplish both of those things. And imagine how good the Mavs would be with Hamilton or Richardson starting next to Jason Kidd and Marion coming off the bench with Jason Terry.
Scary good .

If they do this trade, they should do a lineup of:
Kidd/Terry
Hamilton/Terry (6th man)
Howard
Marion
Dirk

That could be a very good team.

This is going to set back the Pistons a very long time. Eric Dampier ?!? They could get way more for RIP. But anything that will increase the Wizards' chances of getting a higher spot I LIKE.

Tottaly agree who ever posted this have some common sense, sure the pistons need a center, and there's many options out there such as chandler, Ben Wallace, Jamal Magloire, Theo Ratliff, Robert Swift, and maybe Nick Collison. By the way all of them are better than Dampier. Beside's i think Joe D. knows that Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Stoudamire, and any another superstars arent probably coming to Detroit, so why take on an expiring contract. He is going to stockpile on good players then let the chemistry compose then well be contender again.

To tell you the truth I'll rather have Kwame Brown start at Center over Dampier

if this ever happened The Palace of Auburn Hills would be rather empty come the regular season ....i'd welcome Ben Wallace back first , when and if he is bought out.

Damp for rip would never happen but maybe something like Rip and prince for Josh howard and damp? Better fit for both teams

Why would we trade a proven all-star shooting guard for an aging journeyman center with unimpressive numbers who makes over 10 million dollars a year? We're not that desperate for big bodies, guys.

Yeah we need a center , not Dampier though ...i'm sure you guys would love to steal Rip from the Pistons for nothing.

Onl a dip**** would take in Dampier and his contract.

Whoever takes on Dampier's contract will be big 2010 FA suitors. Detroit fans are stupid for not wanting this (because they actually think they're going anywhere this season); but I want to keep Dampier's contract for next offseason. Rip is getting old, with a terrible contract and lack of offense if it isn't off a screen. No thanks.

The only SG I would take this season if Dampier has to be moved is Jason Richardson.

Richardson over Hamilton ? you might be in the minority there .... and yes i agree, you guys def. should keep Dampiers contract it's way more valuable than anything else you can acquire for it.

Erica isn't going anywhere. The Mavs should keep him and reap the benefits of his contract comin' off the books

im a hornets fan, and I would Trade Tyson Chandler for Rip Hamilton...but only if you guys would be willing to take Antonio Daniles with him...a decent backup pg...we need him off our hands. You guys will be getting a 26 year old / 27year old athletic center who has had a very nice history of staying healkthy actually. Only one season he played under 70 games....not too shabby. I like the deal for both teams.

Anyone esle?
