Here is what we know:

* Marc DelPiano, a special assistant to Pittsburgh Pirates GM Neal Huntington, was spotted at Safeco Field by Seattle Times beat writer Geoff Baker.
* Pittsburgh SS Jack Wilson and 2B Freddy Sanchez have been in a lot of trade rumors recently.
* The Mariners need help at either SS, 2B or 3B, all three of which could be filled by Wilson or Sanchez.
* Yuniesky Betancourt was a late scratch from his rehab outing in Tacoma in what was called an “organizational decision.”
* Yuni was a target of Huntington’s a few years ago, when then Seattle GM Bill Bavasi allegedly turned down a Yuni for Adam LaRoche swap.
* The Mariners had discussions with the Pirates focusing around Wilson and Betancourt earlier this season.
* Wilson is set to make $7.25M this season and has a $8.4M club option for next year ($600K buyout). Sanchez is owed $6.1M this season and has an $8M vesting option for next season that will most likely vest. Yuni is owed $9M through 2011, with a $6M option for 2012 ($2M buyout).
* M’s GM Jack Zduriencik is refusing to comment on why Yuni was pulled.

Well, I knew all that except that Josh Wilson was on the Pirates, I thought for sure it was Jack on the Pirates and Josh was a Mariner. Let me guess Bavasi's your hero and to honor him, you wanted to trade away perfectly good players for someone we already have! Just joking, good summary though! I appreciate you recapping!

Let's hope we get Freddy Sanchez AND John Grabow... Maybe if we give them Yuniesky Betancourt, Garrett Olson, and Chris Jakubauskus, we can get those two (Sanchez and Grabow)... We need a left reliever with strong numbers against lefties, at the minimum for guys like Hamilton, Blalock, Abreu, Cust, Giambi, etc. late in games.

Maybe they can also get Jimmy Gobble as a minor league free agent to help the major league roster if there is another injury. Gobble actually has been amazing this year against lefties and looks to have the making of becoming a good LH specialist.

Finally we should make a trade for Adam Lind, Langerhans was great for the week, but he's a 4th outfielder regardless of how much we want him to be the great white hope in LF. We should also get Scott Downs to become our setup guy. They are looking to dump contracts and his is a nice chunk of change. I'm sure for the right package they would eat half his remaining $8MM over the next 1.5 years. I think Phillippe Aumont and Ronny Cedeno get this done. Phillippe is a native of the Toronto area and if they trade Halladay, it would be good press for them to bring in the kid who struckout 3 superstars in the WBC game against USA. Plus the Mariners are committed to him being in the bullpen and he's just Josh Fields with less break to his curveball and he's bigger than Fields by 7 inches. If we aren't going to make Aumont a starter, than trade him. Relievers throwing 97 are easy to find in free agency.

Lind would be versatile enough to give Branyan days off at 1B, allow Branyan to play 3B occasionally to give our regular guy a breather, play LF if Griffey needs a break, and is comfortable in the DH spot. This is a big deal because most guys don't like to sit while the team is playing defense and he excels at it. Griffey on the otherhand bats as poorly as is possible for him, whenever he is DHing. So we get Griffey in LF for 7 innings, Langerhans for 2 innings. Lind DH, Branyan 1B still, Sanchez 3B, Woodward SS, with Woodward becoming our super utility IF when Beltre comes back and having Sanchez move to SS. At the end of the day Lopez will be back at 2B when Beltre returns, so why screw him up. Errors happen when fielders feel uncomfortable, so they can experiment with Lopez at 3B during the Venezuelan Winter League.

So maybe a lineup like this...

Ichiro Suzuki
Freddy Sanchez
Russell Branyan
Adam Lind
Franklin Gutierrez
Ken Griffey
Jose Lopez
Kenji Johjima
Chris Woodward

Lineup would change like this with Beltre back...

Ichiro Suzuki
Adrian Beltre
Russell Branyan
Adam Lind
Franklin Gutierrez
Ken Griffey
Jose Lopez
Kenji Johjima
Freddy Sanchez

Dude, seriously? I posted this in the Pirates forum so they could see it and you start making up bull**** trades not having anything to do with the Pirates? Have you finally realized that you're not welcome in the M's forum?

Also: I didn't write that and never even took credit for writing that. I merely copied and pasted.

Sorry Pirate fans. This dude is probably THE WORST poster in PSD history and in no way represents the Mariners forum. :laugh2:

It's always the same thing with him too. Long video game trade rants.

Seems like the Pirates may be interested in Jeff Clement and Balentien also. They've always had interest in them and Greg Halman.

I think the M's would listen to a deal involving Liddi, but dont expect much else if you do put his name in.
