Can anyone please tell me why some people are picking Orlando to be #1 at this point right now? This is seriously not to attack Orlando fans or anything but besides their starting 5 they have nothing.....nothing besides JJ Reddick and Anthony Johnson right now. If you look at thier line-up yes they have a nice starting 4 with Nelson-Carter-Lewis-Howard but I don't know what is going on after that. Is Pietrus going to start now. Are there any rumors of them looking into adding depth. I guess I heard that they are looking at Big Baby but what after that. I guess once they add depth they could be number one in the East but if I am going off what rosters look like right now then here is my prediction.

Nelson - Johnson
Carter - Reddick
Peitrus - Jeremy Richardson
Lewis - Ryan Anderson
Howard - Foyle

But Houston and Phoenix are NOT...
Houston: lost Artest, Yao, and Rafer Alston (also might lose T-MAC)
Phoenix: Nash is getting old and worse every year, Shaq gone, MARION GONE, Amare maybe gone

1) San Antonio - SA got MUCH better
2) LA Lakers - I don't think the Lakers got any better
3) Portland - I think they will finish better in the standings than Denver but not by much
4) Denver - Same great team
5) Mavs - Marion and Howard? If they keep Bass this team stays could jump Denver
6) Utah - Essentially the same team. Milsap gets them to 6. 8 if they can't keep him.
7) Clippers - This is my big gamble. I think Gordon may be a borderline allstar
8) OKC - I really don't think this is to hard to see coming

East:

1) Cavs - It is near even with Boston. I believe in LeBron
2) Boston - Sheed makes this team hard to stop even with injuries
3) Magic - VC isn't better than Turk in Orlando. Still contenders
4) Bobcats - Larry Brown is a genius
5) Atlanta - They are so small and young. I just don't see it happening
6) Miami - Same team
7) Chicago - Wild Card team. They are last year's Atlanta
8) Washington - Healthy they are going to be good

not to bad at all. Finally somebody does not put Washington into the playoffs. Any team led by Arenas is going nowhere..

The Wizards have made the playoffs 3 out of the 5 years Gilbert plays more then 10 games. They have their best team since Arenas has become a Wizard and anyone who follows the Wizards knows that Twan is the true leader of this team followed by Butler. With Flip Saunders as the coach and a lineup of Arenas, Foye, Butler, Jamison, Haywood and Mike Miller, JaVale McGee, Nick Young and lets not forget the GOAT Mike James coming off the bench. How do they not make the playoffs

Its understandable that the Rockets are not in the playoffs picture yet again because of injuries. But all Rockets fans know for a fact that we have hard working players every night and a GM thats so underrated and will not let us down at anytime.

I forgot about all they did this off-season. I apologize for American blindness.

Does everyone else though seem like it is harder to pick the East lately because a lot of intriguing teams are coming out of there. Yes the Lakers and Spurs are going to be tough and you can throw Denver and say Dallas now in there but you look at the East and it is hard to see what is going to happen after the top 3 Cleveland, Boston and Orlando.

Toronto, Charlotte, Washington, Indiana, Miami, Philly, Chicago.....etc.

Should be an interesting year.

*8th spot is truly up for grabs. Houston looks like it wont have Yao for most of the season (if next season at all) and McGrady will miss his usual and plus I believe that he is actually missing the first month of the season.

*Phoenix heading in wrong direction. Which leaves Grizzlies, Oklahoma, Clippers, Warriors. I say Grizzlies cause that team is really filling out. But OKC could very well make it.

*Philadelphia plays MUCH MUCH better without Elton Brand and with Brand last season there were 12th until he got injured the first time, where thye went on like a 10-game run. However with Elton back and possibly Andre Miller gone iono.

*Chicago losing Ben Gordon will be bigger than expected.

*Detriot is still up in the air even with Charlie V and Gordon. Does Richard Hamilton really want to be there?

*There were so many close teams last year with two weeks left it was Bobcats, Milwaukee. And with like a month left you can add Indiana, New York, & New Jersey to the list too.

*PLUS IM A KNICKS FAN!!!!! What u want me to do! Im sry lol!

How so? Did Arenas not give an autograph or what? And it's just Arenas. Butler, Jamison, Haywood, Foye, Mike Miller, Javale, Young, Deshawn. I know a lot of teams in the East have improved but the Wizards have improved the most since last year. They will make the playoffs, they will be a 5-6th pick, and be better than the Raptors.

Flip Saunders has a good chance of helping that team, and they do have a good lineup. Hopefully he can get that team philosophy going that Washington has so desperately lacked.

I can see a case for the Raptors not making the playoffs - but the powers are slowly shifting to the East. I don't think we'll see teams below .500 making the playoffs.

Philly - Miami - Washington - Toronto - Chicago will all be vying for the last 4 spots IMO, with Charlotte being right their too. That is a lot of good competition.

With that being said...Lets go Raps!

The Raptors added Hedo Turkoglu and DeMar Derozan but lost Shawn Marion, Anthony Parker.

So they really didn't improve because they needed defense and really don't get that in Hedo. Also, what makes you think they will do better? They didn't improve alot, if any.

Hedo plays a little better defense than what people credit him for.
A BIG problem was blowing up in 4th quarters, if the team was within 2-4 pts, they would end up losing by 8+. Hedo brings in the clutch which hopefully can give momentum tot he team at the most CRUCIAL time. The team traded away Kapono for Reggie Evans which brings in more defense and toughness to the team *hopefully* with the Bi annual and MLE we can get our bench more solidified as BC himself promised there's more moves to come.

Warriors at #8 because I have no idea who's gonna make that 8th spot. The bottom of the west is so terrible.

Blazers will continue to improve this season. Nuggets are no better, but no worse either, and they impressed me. As long as they continue to defend, I see them as a tough team.

Spurs are lower only because of their age. I like what they've done so far, but I'm not sold on them having another deep playoff run in them.

Orlando and Boston ahead of Cleveland because I don't see how Big Z and Shaq are gonna play together. I see a terrible clash of minutes there. Orlando ahead of Boston based on age, and the difficult matchup they continue to be for the C's.

Toronto at #7 because although lacking on defense, the Hedu signing fits perfectly for the Toronto style of offense which will probably pan out quite well as a team that'll just plain outscore opponents.

Miami is on the downslide..Dwade will probably demand a trade since they are so damn crappy as a team. Miami fans want to wait for 2010 to make a legit signing 2 help D-Wade, but he don't want that cus he wants to win now!
