View Full Version : Who will win the #8 seed in the west?

dsickich123
07-04-2009, 03:47 PM
I think that most people agree that the top 7 teams in the west are....

1. L.A. LAKERS
2. SAN ANTONIO
3. DENVER
4. PORTLAND
5. NEW ORLEANS
6. DALLAS
7. UTAH

But... who will take the 8 spot....?

I think that Houston (without Alston, Yao, Artest) and the Suns are done....
so it may go to a rising team...

i understand why you say that but i just like the talent we got
pg-aaron brooks, kyle lowry, sergio llull
sg-trevor ariza, jermaine taylor, brent barry
sf-shane battier, chase budinger, james white
pf-carl landry, chuck hayes,
c-luis scola,joey dorsey,

maybe yao and t-mac come back after all star break and maybe we trade t-mac and bring some other player into help us.

If Chandler moves to the Suns I think the Hornets will be in this battle as well. The Rockets might not be competitive and I would hope the Suns don't get caught in this dog fight. Portland with another years experience could be major challengers next season.

On note of the actual subject though I think OKC will be winning this race currently, we will have to see how the rest of summer pans out and how the teams work together

yeah hopefully the only problem i think there would be is chemistry but i think that would be fixed by the playoffs. Lets just hope.
I do wanna keep t-mac until next year though maybe he proves himself when he comes back and if not then he is off of our hands.

OKC Thunder, they are the new Trailblazers (even tho the Blazers aren't old)

Thunder! They're going to surpise this year. Durant will be on 2nd or 3rd All-NBA team. Harden will in ROY. It's going to be great over there in OKC.

No use of voting for a poll that no one has any idea what their talking about. Why are we discussing the playoffs when THE SEASON HASN'T STARTED YET! Who knows, the Lakers could all get injured, and be the 8th seed. With the Clippers, god for bid, being 7th. Who the hell knows?

i think the suns, espically with rumblings of a chandler trade, though they could just as easily blow the team up and trade away stat

though im sticking with the suns, i wasnt so sure on the mavs being locks but guess im the only one

IF Amare doesn't get traded I think they are good enough to snag the 8th, they still have some firepower to get into the playoffs. If Amare does get traded I say the the Warriors will snag the 8th seed.

theres many options, but Houston is not one of them. Also, Memphis just wont have it in them to pull of 8th seed. Suns will only make it if they can keep Amare. Minnisota can pull it off if Rubio stays put & works to his potential, Rubio, Love & Big AL can be deadly. But i think the most talent are from the 3 teams below.

OKC Thunder, GS Warriors, and LA Clippers.

Thunder has a starting line-up of ?/Green/Durrant/Harden/Westbrooke with DJW and Collison off the bench.

LA has a starting line-up of Camby/Griffin/Thorton/Gordon/Davis with Novak, Randolph & Kaman off the bench.

GS has the most talent with a starting line-up of Biedrins/Randolph/Jackson/Maggette/Ellis & Curry, Azuibuike, Wright & Turiaf off the bench.

IMO, i c GS in the driver seat for 8th seed, but it can possibly be LAC if Griffin plays like a #1 pick, and their GM makes smart moves.

I think a healthy Warriors team will make it interesting. The Warriors had like 5,000 different starting line-ups last year. Hopefully with everyone healthy and the team set we'll see some more balance in the line-ups and better play. Plus Monta being 100% healthy doesn't hurt either. No dumb accidents....

Warriors are not going to get the 8th seed, I'm surprised with how many votes they're getting. I think its going to be between the Clippers, Grizzlies, and Thunder. My western conference predictions:
1. Lakers
2. Nuggets
3. Spurs
4. Blazers
5. Jazz
6. Mavericks
7. Hornets
8. Clippers

There obviously may be some homerness in this prediction, but its entirely possible that the Clippers make the playoffs.

Giants-49ers-Ws

^ wow dude..can you please explain to me how the Clips are better than this roster..

Ellis/Curry/Law IV/Claxton
Azubuike/Morrow/Belinelli
Jackson/Maggette
Randolph/Wright/Davidson
Biedrins/Turiaf

And were going to get a big man who can rebound and defend before the off-season is over...

ima have to say warriors and this is why...

3 rising prospects in morrow, randolph and azubuike... both lived in the gym this offseason and morrow is the purist shooter in this next gen...

100% return of monte ellis and stephen jacskon

ronny turiaf ranked # 3 in blocked shots and he is a bench player

and yes the rookie season of stephen curry at the point....

okc will have a better record then last yr but with no bench and no veterens... i say 10th at best for them

wow, the hornets at 5!!! if they get rid of chandler, they are competing 8th as well.

and seriously the thunder and grizz lol. OMG are you guys serious. they are no where near a playoff team.

it will be Phoenix/NO/Houston and possibly GS.

the clipps i dont know about, they have so much talent and yet they are just so bad.

^^ the kings, wtf??.

how anyone can say the kings just puzzles me..

Its because they're gonna be a whole different team next year. It may not seem like it because they did almost nothing to their roster but they will be.

1st. They fired the coach half way through the season and got stuck with a HORRIBLE interim coach for the rest of the year.

2nd. Kevin Martin (Their leading scorer) was hurt for like 30 games last year not to mention other injuries to other players as well.

3rd. The Kings traded their second leading scorer (John Salmons) and their starting Center (Brad Miller) away for basically only Andres Nocioni seeing that we bought out Drew Gooden and the rest of the players basically never got to play.

So now that the Kings have a new coach and a just drafted a promising new PG they are on the right track to making the playoffs again.

I think if they stay healthy they can take the 8 spot. Is it likely???? No. But anything can happen in the NBA.

i dont, i just see them making it all, or even coming close.
the 7th and 8th spot will be between the hornets, suns, rockets and warriors.
however the clippers have amazing talent yet they always just suck, so they could be very good or very bad.

Reason why Warriors will make it:
1)Monta Ellis is back, I REPEAT MONTA ELLIS IS BACK.
They went 14-14 with him back .500 team with him, but heres the thing he wasnt 100% until like his 7th game
2)Injuries last year killed us, but not this year!!
3)Anthony Randolph is working hard this off season. He is now 6'11 making him a legit 7'0. O YEAH I forgot he gained 20 pounds of muscle!!Yea people going to talk about him this year!!
4)We going to shoot the lights out. Talk about the shooters we have:
Buike lead 3 pt % last season
Morrow Probably the closest thing to Ray Allen.
Monta has the 2nd best midrange game in the NBA behind Rip
Curry lights out
Marco when hes on fire he has it!!!

just cause the clips added blake griffin doesnt make them a playoff team. as long as dunleavey is at the helm the clips arent really going anywhere. the thunder show promise but they're still a bunch of youngsters. they can easily surprise or disappoint. if hornets trade chandler away then its gonna be hornets/rockets/warriors. if they dont its gonna be suns instead of hornets

I'm a Kings fan so of course I'm gonna be rooting for them to steal th 8 spot this year but I know that isn't likely. My 2nd favorite team is the Warriors and I think they actually have the best chance at takin' the 8 spot so I'm sayin' the Warriors will be the 8spot this coming year.
