Do you think Albert Pujols will hit 62 HR's this season? In regards to the other "greatest" home run hitters that broke the record, Mark McGwire had 30 HR's on June 10th 1998, Sosa had 30 HR's on June 21st 1998, Bonds had hit 30 by June 4th 2001! Now I know they all hit more than just 62, Bonds in fact hit 11 more. He is PROJECTED on pace for 61 right now. I think it is possible but highly unlikely. Teams are going to begin to pitch around him more, especially division rivals. Also its a long 2nd half of the season and players wind down alot more 2nd half. I am going to break off and say he only hits about 45 to 48 HR's on the season at most. Thoughts?

ha, if they start to do that he wont hit another homerun. its ridiculous how many times hes gotten walked already. hes gets walked like 5 times a series. (dont quote me on that but it seems realistic considering ive seen 99% of their games so far this year)

I'd love to see it, but I don't think it will happen.

Its unlikely, but do you REALLY want to bet against The Machine? I voted no, but I'll say he hits 62 on the dot here.

I voted yes.....but the more i think about it i don't see it happening. Pitchers are just going to walk him in close games and with the cardinals offense struggling to score runs..pitchers are going to Bonds him. STL needs Holliday. Thatd be dangerous...derosa/pujols/holliday/ludwick.

I think he'll get close, maybe high 50's. They'll stop pitching to him.

any deal for holliday will involve ludwick, and he isn't a fear factor right now, rasmus is scarier than luddy. so it'd be more like rasmus/pujols/holliday/derosa

He hasn't hit 50 yet. So I doubt he will hit 62. Most great Hr hitters Have had hit 50 by Pujols current age.

He needs mor protection than DeRosa can offer. He will start getting the pitch around soon. Especially if they are still in the race.

Idiot, Bonds only hit over 50 one time in his career.

Just because your admitted roider on your team is no longer considered the best baseball player in the game right now doesn't mean you have to try to take away from Pujols.

Without any more protection, I am an gonna have to say no. But his OBP will be ridiculous.

If the Cardinals pick up another big bat for protection, I'd say 58. Without no protection 51

he gets walked too much and is starting to get walked even more, so it most likely wont happen

I certainly hope so, Pujols is an incredible baseball player. I doubt though.

It would be guaranteed if he played in NY's CitiField.

Probably yes.

He won't hit 74 though!

he has a better shot to do it if Ludwick starts hitting again.. with him in a slump right now everybody has just been pitching around AP..

For sure he get's in the 50's bearing no injuries but like people said if Ludwick starts hitting again he could easily get 62.

I voted no. But if other players like DeRosa and Ludwick can provide him the protection that stops teams pitching around him he probably won't be too far away. He is the best bet to reach 62+ HR's.

In the tight race the NL Central is turning out to be I highly doubt it, I mean even the Pirates have a shot right now...

What does that have to do with how many home runs Albert can hit? If anything a tight division race would make him hit more, he is at his best when the pressure is on
