View Full Version : Where will Ron Artest end up? (please avoid twitter-based rumors)

We had to close 3 (that I know of) different threads about Artest because all these rumors coming off of twitter - some from possibly legit sources, many more from dubious ones, and even the legit source ones possibly not being credible - well, they're just all over the map, and they're creating a lot more confusion than they are shedding light on what's actually going on.

So, go ahead and use this thread to discuss where you think Artest should go or might go or will go, but if you post anything as "news" or an "official rumor", etc., please only use sources other than twitter (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=379600), and really those sources should be legit news organizations such as espn, the Houston Chronicle, etc.

"No twitter-source rumors" is not official PSD policy as of now. It's still being discussed. But just for now, please refrain. Thanks, and enjoy all the FA madness.

I'm going by him on the radio personally:

Ron said

That two of his childhood friends were there, but he couldn't say their name or let them talk by the phone because people would know who they are and he wouldn't want to put them out there like that

He admitted the twittering about him being done with Houston is BS because to quote him,
"Even if I doesn't play there anymore the fans embraced me and I would like to give back to their community and that he wouldn't trade his year of playing with Yao for nothing in the world and they will remain friends, but sometimes you have to leave your friends and family."

He didn't sign a NBA deal because he can't till next week, and that he signed an endorsement deal for 6 years.

The host mentioned Ariza and he said that Trevor played well for the Lakers, but from what he has heard he is looking for more money and that when you have to let someone go someone else will more likely seize the opportunity to take over.

He says that he has enjoyed his day and his life.

The announcer pointed out that he, Kobe, and Lamar are two of his close friends and Ron said I know and I got to go back to dinner now and laughed before saying thank you for the time on your show and you all will see next week when I can talk about it as a player.

Yes I listened to it myself before someone asks.

I for one think the Lakers are an option for him as LA offers him a chance to play ball with Kobe and LAmar for the first time since they were teens, Phil as a coach, and thee chance to push his record label and repair his image.

As for LA, I think that Ariza is choice one because they invested time inti him, but I could see them saying he has a window to make up his mind and if not they will go with Artest/Marion and concentrate on re-upping Odom and Brown while presenting Trevor his ring at his first Laker's away game.

I think Artest would fit as he isn't crazy, Kobe isn't scared of him, Lamar is his friend, and he respects Phil. Plus he can bring a nastiness to a team that just won a ring.

I would also take Marion as he can do what Ariza did this year just with better rebounding.

Ron, Kobe, and Lamar have been friends since they were teens which is why Kobe was able to get more physical with him than he would have let most people.

As it shows their relationship; their families spend time together every summer as well

Kobe is quiet, but there are guys who know the real him and like him outside of his Olympic and Lakers teammates

Ron Artest wants to win, and he knows he is no longer a first option; I don't think so. I think he will join CLE or LAL though he could really help Portland IMO

Hmm... If Artest comes to the Lakers that will be huge for the Lakers. It would replace Ariza if he ends up going.
Kobe, Artest will not be fighting only a biased man and Kobe/Laker hate would say so.

Artest is just what Lakers need, a more physical type of player.
