^^^This is exactly why fans shouldn't vote. Derek Jeter is NOT an all star.

bctgg27

First, don't group me in with those stupid fans that vote for undeserving players. Second, it was between Jeter and Bartlett for me and I compared the numbers. I am not a fan of Jeter or the Yankees. So back off, I know what I am doing.

The going debate for an All-Star ........is it the best team of this 1/2 of season? or is it the best players over a career?

So many times people vote someone as an All Star because they were hot that first half and then by the end of the year they drift back into being the average player they always were. At the same time, why are we rewarding mediocrity just because someone is a name player? The likeliness of them turning it around and having a good year in the end is on the high side though consider their past history. The debate continues in my head which is why I usually do not vote at all.

Dude - I love the logo because I am a die-hard Mets fan as well, but did you really miss out on putting Greinke and Rivera in the All Star Game?
Greinke should start the game hands down (little argument from Halladay) and Rivera is just flat out better than Fuentes this year.

Greinke - 10-3, 1.95 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 115 IP, 114 K's, 5 CG's, .235 BAA

Fuentes ERA 3.49, Rivera ERA 2.76
Fuentes WHIP 1.24, Rivera WHIP 0.95
Fuentes Blown Saves = 3, Rivera Blown Saves = 1
Fuentes BAA = .245, Rivera BAA = .222

Why not, He is an ALLSTAR isn't he? If you say "Shane is an ALLSTAR" 3x in front of a mirror he appears just long enough to give you the Hang Loose and throws a Lei around your neck. It's pretty surreal.

Why not, He is an ALLSTAR isn't he? If you say "Shane is an ALLSTAR" 3x in front of a mirror he appears just long enough to give you the Hang Loose and throws a Lei around your neck. It's pretty surreal.

But what Kong fu Panda or Matt Kemp????!!!??? What about all the Giants and Dodgers fans that feel like Charlie Manuel just crapped on them??

I don't even see why people are making a big deal about Vic or Werth. Both of them put up allstar caliber numbers, and you see managers give their own guys the benefit of the doubt every year. By winning the World Series Charlie earned the right to pick his own team. Other fans can ***** all they want, Maddon did the same thing with Zobrist anyway.

Ben Zobrist, AL Rankings 2009

30th AVG
16th HR
18th RBI
3rd OBP
2nd SLG

Werth and Victorino are both Top 10 outfielders in the NL....
Werth: .266, 20 HR, 56 RBI
Victorino: .309, 6 HR, 42 RBI
Zobrist: .293, 17 HR, 52 RBI

So I guess that makes Victorino and Werth the best players in their league too considering Victorino has a better average then Zobrist and Werth has more HRs and RBIs....

Sorry in advance as this is a little unrelated, but I wasn't sure where else I should put it or if it was worth opening a new thread. Anyways, you guys have got to check out these limited edition All-Star jerseys I just discovered. They are nothing short of incredible. These two are my favorite:

If anyone can tell me where these are available for purchase I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

That is some s#%t.

I just want to know if you were serious when you said this, to never read a post made by you again

Thats not even the worst part, he tried to tell me that Ben Zobrist is the best player in the American League, and gave me this as evidence to support that.

Nice fallacy. I think it's safe to say that when you're the best offensive player at your position, average defense is excused. When you cost your team a whole win defensively, and are nothing exceptional offensively, then "you're out."

And yet....Sandoval 3.1 WAR and Werth 2.8  Pretty close, wouldn't you think? and again......they needed to replace an OF not a 3B....tough luck

Oh wow. Talk about a steaming pile of nonsense.

Zobrist should be starting in the game. Vic and Werth... where both on a very good team last year.

Steaming pile of nonsense? I don't see how. Zobrist is lucky that he even made the team because hes listed as an outfielder. You tell me how he deserves to start in front of Bay, Ichiro, Crawford, or Hunter. And okay, what does them being on a good team have to do with anything? The fans wanted to see Victorino in the game, and Werth deserved to be in the game, its as simple as that. Werth has more HRs and RBIs than Zobrist, and Victorino has a better average.

Werth: .266, 20 HR, 56 RBI
Victorino: .309, 6 HR, 42 RBI
Zobrist: .293, 17 HR, 52 RBI

All of the SF and LAD homers should log on to the website and vote next year instead of whining about your guys not being on the team...but, remember to stay clear of the keyboard after the vote shows again that you don't support them...your tears may cause a short-circuit

Vic voted in by the fans
Werth voted in by the players as an OF replacement, not a 3b replacement

get over it...pablo is good this year, but there wasn't enough of you to get him in...

Yes, Zobrist is the best player in the AL this year (although considering Mauer's been in limited time, he's probably the best), even if ESPN tells you that Dustin Pedroia or Derek Jeter has been the MVP so far.

Thanks, Werth deserves being in the ASG.

I'm comparing him to Victorino.

Thank you!!! the fact that a fan favorite in a market as big as L.A. lost to a player from Az in a straight up fan vote shouldn't be happening. Dodger fans need to stop whining and star voting. :D
