According to several league sources, the Cavs have been been in contact with Houston Rockets free agent forward Ron Artest. It even included a face-to-face pitch from LeBron James on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, as both were in Southern California for various events.

I wonder if LeBron learned from the great, late Billy Mays with his pitching. I guess time will tell if Artest goes to the Cavs. That would really suck for the Rockets.

just read this...as a rockets fan I can't blame Ron for wanting to leave since yao is down. If he did go to a contending team I would want it to be cleveland..............

Less pressure off of Lebron, but does that mean Artest comes up as a backup to Lebron?
I think Artest should adapt to SG, and have them both up at the same time. It would be sick.

He'd start at SG, or at SF and Lebron would move to PF.

The Cavaliers should have landed Artest last year, but Ben Wallace's ****ty *** made that impossible.

I don't see this as a big upgrade they'll have to use their MLE to get him or they do a sign and trade with Ilgauskus, either way Lebron/Artest will have to play at the 4 and they'll have no good back up center for Shaq Fatty and at 37 years of age Shaq needs a good backup, BADLY. As for being better than Orlando, Dwight would get Shaq in foul trouble early and then who guards Dwight? theres no way Lebron or Artest could ever out-muscle Dwight for position near the rim, back to square one guys. Artest is better off in Orlando or LA (should Odom sign with SA or Phoenix)

And thats where your argument stops.

Seems to me like Dwight spend the entire Eastern Conference Finals in foul trouble. Oh yea, HE FOULED OUT (once or twice).

To say that is uncredible and has no meaning in any debate. Period.

I'm not talking about the money. Artest was available via trade and for dirt cheap too. Cleveland definitely had the pieces/expirings to make it happen.

I'm talking about the brawl. It's probably a safe assumption that Artest and Wallace aren't the best of friends. Putting them on the same team is out of the question.

I don't think he goes to the Cavs unless it is a 1 year deal. If he gets a 4 or 5 year deal he could end up byhimself after this year because Shaq and Lebron can leave.

LMAO Dwight dropped 40 on your cavs and avged a personal career-high against Cavs for highest scoring avg against any team in the playoffs, he avged 5.6 fouls per game (calls at times very contraversial) and still avged over 25 points and as the years go by he'll only get smarter so lower fouls and he led the league in free throws per game last year which means bye-bye shaq and lets see Lebron/Artest stop me from dropping a career high 50 lol

this is wat im talkin bout! the Cavs need to get him. he can be the defensive presence that Lebron needs, like Michael had Dennis Rodman, Lebron knows he needs a banger like that. hopefully they can get him to Cleveland

Raph12
07-01-2009, 08:33 PM
they would make other moves to get more bigs...........and if they did that, they would be the favorites in the East next year.......

It's hard to say they will get other bigs, because talented bigs are expensive in the NBA, should they sign Ronny they'll be nearing if not over the luxury tax and no way Big Z and Shaq both play together neither could guard Lewis at the arc and Lebron won't be able to guard any allstar lvl pf neither would Artest (I'm not talking about Rashard Lewis, I'm talking about the Stoudamires/Gasols/Duncans/Dwight[After foul trouble]) personally I don't see it working out, but I don't even think Shaq and James will work so I guess they'll just have to go out and prove everyone wrong, not by winning 66 games but by winning a Eastern Conferance/NBA Chamionship

xSolidx
07-01-2009, 08:34 PM
If Cavs land Artest, that would really be huge for them

In my opinion it will make them the favorites to make the Finals

They still need to add some depth to that team though, but if they add Artest, it will be a very solid move

i hope you understand that when the suns played the magic last year shaq got dwight in fould trouble! and dwight had to ride the pine most of the game! dwight is a verry aggresive defensive player and shaq's strength and power makes dwight even more aggresive! and shaq is a much better offensive center than shaq and shaqs size makes it difficult for dwight to score! if cleavland got artest they would be the best team in the league

williams
west
artest
lebron
shaq

that is 4 all stars and GREAY ballance! and if they get to keep isgalskis they could go really big with a lineup of

willams
artest
lebron
isgalskis
shaq

i know most of you say isgalskis cant play the 4 but he will play 4 because of hte mid range jumper he has. AND defensivly they will play a zone defense and with that length there willl be lots of steals and blocks

If Artest wants to win a ring, then this move makes sense. But if he wants to be the MAN and get paid, which is what I believe, he will resign with Htown.

What is your point???

Okay, so Dwight had a high scoring average??? Your argument is pointless. Before you said Dwight would get Shaq in foul trouble, and now you ramble uselessly about PPG???

You have no argument. You have nothing to base your facts on. State a fact that proves Dwight will get Shaq in foul trouble??

And secondly, nobody cares that Dwight averages all those foul shots, because he misses half of them. Hahaha, thats why people foul him! DUUhhh

That is not a good pick up for the Cavs... they need someone that works without the ball to get open and can knock down shots, Mo williams needs the ball and so does James... I would say if they were going to use money like this then I would get two good players for the same price you would have to pay artest...Anthony parker and grant hill or something like that. you would have a deeper team and team players
