View Full Version : Rumor: T-Mac for Eddy Curry and Cuttino Mobley

DRE'-MAC

The Rockets could provide the Knicks with some additional 2010 cap space by taking on Eddy Curry.

Daryl Morey, according to a source, would be interested in discussing a Tracy McGrady for Curry ($10.5M) and Cuttino Mobely ($9M, 80 percent) swap.

via newsday

Imo, this would be an awful trade for the Rockets. They could get more than that. Maybe if it were Larry Hughes instead of Cuttino Mobley.

I feel bad for Knick fans because they get these wild rumors every day it seems that really get their hopes up. Eddy Curry has 0 trade value at all. None. Why not go out and get someone like Varejao, Sheed, Pachulia, etc for just the MLE if they are so desperate for a big?

What's the 80% on Mobley's contract? Is it 80% garuanteed? 80% covered by insurance? It would explain why they'd want that one. Larry Hughes isn't the player he used to be.

T-Mac and Brian Cook for Eddy Curry, Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries

WOW if this actually goes down I would give Donnie Walsh the Hustler of the Year award. Every trade he's made since being in NY has pretty much hustled the other team in the end.

They wouldn't. I am just going to guess that the newsday writer is that Hahn guy. This guy has been floating wild rumors that have been driving Knick fans wild the last few weeks and none of them are even close to reality. Seriously, think about it.

Right now the Rockets could get both Randolph and Kaman from L.A. for TMac if they wanted. Or at least Camby and Randolph. So why in the world would they take on Curry? It is insane.

Varejao-He's a career backup/energy 6th man. I can't see him as a starter, I just can't.
'Sheed- Heading for San Antonio, but the guy has got nothing left. He's old.
Pachulia- I liked him for a year or so before the Al Horford era, but then I decided that he's a bum. (personal opinion heh)

Well with the whole Yao situation the Rockets are desperate, and I mean desperate for a plan B. Curry has apparently gotten himself into peak physical shape, like the year when he was a borderline all star averaging 19 and 7 boards. Remember the guy is only 27 years old, and honestly my opinion is that we should keep him and try to build his stock more, then ship him off near the trade deadline for some draft picks since the '10 draft looks pretty strong and we have no picks...

I would accept this trade though if I were the Knicks. Barring all injuries Tracy McGrady is still a star in this league. He's still only 30 years old and if he stays healthy, (god bless that man) he can still drop 20+ a night. I'd be ready to give up Hughes instead of Mobley's contract as well.

T-mac and Lowry for Deng and Hinrich.

deng and hinrich arent centers.
yao is out for basicaly the whole season if not forever... so they want a center so they are going after curry for some strange reason..haha
for the rockets i think this is a very bad trade.. for new york its great. curry aint even playing (well his baby mama and his babygirl or babyboy cant remember got gunned down so he was taking time off) he was sitting on the bench.the knicks can get t-mac sure hes always getting hurt and he will be missing the begining of the season but hes still t-mac.

I thought Mobley Retired? His Heart problem was too much of a Issue

Mobley's condition forces retirement: New York Knicks guard Cuttino Mobley retired from the NBA on Thursday because of a heart disease that he said has gotten worse. Mobley said doctors told him he faced significant risks if he kept playing. The 11-year veteran said by walking away now, he could live a normal life. "The specialists I've seen made it clear that my heart condition has gotten worse and I couldn't continue to play professional basketball without putting my health and life in serious danger," Mobley said. "As much as I want to keep playing in the NBA, I have no choice but to follow the advice of my doctors and step away from the league."

the rockets are all about efficiency...offensively, Curry was like mr. efficiency...this will be a semi-rebuilding year for the rockets and honestly i think t-mac was a little bit of a cancer in their locker room...curry is fat but he certainly isnt a cancer...and this would allow mobley to retire a rocket...i like it.

You're right..this trade doesnt help either team IMO...as a knicks fan, I don't want T-Mac @ this point, and I'm sure Houston fans don't want Curry and Cat Mobley right now

There are so many better options at Center than Curry.. T-Mac's contract could do way better than this crap deal.. As a Houston Fan.. it's defentely not time to panic.. this is clutch time.. thay have to make the best deal possible.. and this deal with the knicks is by far the worst

the Rockets are likely losing Artest, far bigger problem being they may have lost Yao not just for a year but possibly forever.....leaving T-Mac as their most tradeable asset

...meaning if they made a trade THAT stupid, their GM should be shipped off to the developmental league immediately

Everyone needs to get some facts straight before saying it's an awful deal. 80% of Mobley's contract is paid by insurance. McGrady makes 23 million. Curry (10.5 mil) and 20% of Mobley contract (9 mil) would cost 12.3 million, saving Houston over 10 million this year for a guy in McGrady that is going to be out at least the first month, if not the whole year. There is some logic to the rumor.

You can even make the deal better by Houston by including Hughes and taking the contracts of Brian Cook and Brent Barry, who'd most likely be bought out and could resign with Houston. The Mobley contract is a huge asset for the Knicks and I think it will be used in a deal of this fashion.

Philly also might go after T-Mac by using Sammy D. I guess he really is just an expiring contract now and not a superstar.
