Al Jefferson is the best

who will start?
if there is no yao, and he's no on the ballot, Bynum would lol.
No Shaq either and he's been behind Yao and Shaq in fan voting

but since the NBA is slow, Yao will still be on the ballot and he would get voted in. Then the NBA would pick the starter so Bynum might not

FaceDown91
07-01-2009, 01:53 AM

2. Duncan

This year it will be Andrew Bynum.

LOL

Lets keep it realistic here. Al Jefferson if he remains healthy.

All-Star Centers will either be Al-Jeff/Duncan or Al-Jeff/Amare.

Depending on the voting structure and all that BS, don't forget Amare and Duncan can play the C and PF so whatever Stern says goes I guess.

I'm a laker fan..and even I can admit that Bynum is nowhere near the best center in the west..he still has tons to prove, and until he gets over his 'lazy' plague, I don't think he should even be regarded as one of the top centers in the league.

Anyways, to answer the question.. I think Al Jeff is next in line.

Jefferson is also a 4, but the Wolves have nobody else to play 5, so they put Jefferson there.

He can play both the 4 and 5 just like Duncan, but Al Jefferson is built better to play the 5 spot defensively. The reason I mention Duncan is that SA would be untouchable in the west if they had a solid 5.

Al Jefferson is only 6 ft 10 in, he can play both spots, but I think he's better suited to play 4. But he will continue play 5 till the Wolves get a true 5.

that there proves that the KG trade was not a fleecing... it was as even a trade as you'll find - aging HOFer for a future multiple-time all-star.

BTW why is Minnesota considered a "West" team?

same reason the Hornets and Grizzlies are... there aren't enough teams in the West, and since they are the most West of teams in the Central and Eastern time zones, they are in the West.

would you rather have 18 teams in the East and 12 teams in the West?

1)Bynum
2)Okur

5)Camby

I really don't think Bynum is the best, but I was too lazy to put more effort into it so it looks like this. Camby should probably be higher and Bynum lower, but whatevs.

i am not saying that any of the true centers i named are great at this moment but i believe the thread is who is the best center outside of Yao in the west... and since most people on here keep bringing up taller PF's i thought some one should mention the players who are true to the center position.

i dont know if you meant i am overstating their talent or not but i was going of the top of my head

The best players who actually PLAY CENTER MOST OF THE TIME this comming season in the west will be

#1) Al Jefferson
#2) Nene
#3) Andrew Bynum
#4) Okur (How does nobody even mention him?)
#5) Rasheed Wallace (I am betting he signs with the Spurs... if not he is out)
#5) Kaman
#6) Tyson Chandler

(Duncan and Pau are mostly Power Fowards)

I have Al Jefferson as the Center that will be going and starting for the Western conference. The other Center can be Tim Duncan if he gets listed as a Center once again.

The other options to me are Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol depending on the injuries.

lakersrock

TRUE C....Bynum.

All Star C this year
Jefferson
Bynum

PF will be Duncan and Gasol.

Big Al is a monster offensively, but on the other end against 7 footers, he wasn't all that hot. best center in the west will depend upon off-season rehabilitation and growth (Bynum, Oden, Nene and Kaman). Duncan and Al may be listed at center occasionally, but usually matchup against PF's, so i would say their PF.

MickeyMgl
07-02-2009, 02:28 AM

I don't play charades. Tim Duncan is a center.

He's been playing center most of the time since Robinson left. They just call the guy next to him center so that Duncan can pad his All-NBA totals, even when the guy next to him was 6'7" Malik Rose.

It's a joke. A center by any other name is still a center.
