how can you have carpenter over CHAD BILLINGSLEY?

Yea you're right chad billingsley might deserve it a little more, but carpenters stats are disgusting either way and he should go.

Ima change it, i just saw chad billingsley's stats a lilttle more and you're completely right

It's really not all that ridiculous. Carpenter is a great game manager.

Dan Haren needs to be up there. He's been the best pitcher in the national league imo this year.

Billingsley hasn't helped his cause lately.

Dan Haren not being on this list discredits it all-together.

More than 10 pitchers make the all star team. And you were right with Carp making the team, i think he will start the game.

NYsportsGuru
07-01-2009, 01:37 AM
It's only because Carpenter missed a stretch of starts a little earlier in the season.
Because if not, he would be a sure pick into the all-star game.

The amount of homers on this site is sickening.

I think the most glaring problem with this list is the fact that no rays pitchers or phillies pitchers are listed. They may not be deserving, but their managers pick the team so the odds are one from each with get picked.

Yovani Gallarado has to be an all-star. Honestly, he's 8-5 which isn't great, but he has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.84 ERA, and opponents are hitting .192 off of him which is ranked 2nd in the NL.

No way on earth should Affeldt be an all star, there are plenty of middle relievers putting up good numbers: Soriano, Rhodes, Meyer, Belisario, etc.

Enough people have said it, but Dan Haren definitely belongs on the roster. His record at 7-5 is deceiving because his bullpen blew several of his possible wins.

CC Sabathia should definetly be on the allstar team over Beckett.

Um no. That wasn't the only reason, i actually wanted to know who you guys thought would make it. I gave my stab at it and everyone is just talking garbage about mine. But whatever i knew it was gonna happen. There's so many homers that it makes me wanna vomit. I shouldn't of changed carpenter, but i will take out someone and put in dan haren. He deserves it for sure.

And don't get pissed cuz none of your pitchers will make it

There are actually 13 pitchers on each roster and there doesn't have to be a certain amount of starters and relievers. Here are my predictions:

Matt Cain, SF
Dan Haren, Ari
Chad Billingsley, LA
Josh Johnson, Fla
Johan Santana, NYM
Yovani Gallardo, Mil
Francisco Rodriguez, NYM
Ryan Franklin, StL
Jonathan Broxton, LA
Francisco Cordero, Cin
Heath Bell, SD
Trevor Hoffman, Mil

American League
Zack Greinke, KC
Roy Halladay, Tor
Felix Hernandez, Sea
Justin Verlander, Det
Edwin Jackson, Det
Jered Weaver, LAA
Kevin Millwood, Tex
Mark Buehrle, CHW
George Sherill, Bal
Mariano Rivera, NYY
Jonathan Papelbon, Bos
Joe Nathan, Min
David Aardsma, Sea

Why? He hasn't even pitched the required 79 IP to qualify for leaderboards, there are at the least 5 SP's who deserve the start over him if not 10. I have a feeling he will end up in the same boat as Joey Votto, not going due to lack of playing time.

Before you laugh and say bad things to me...look at John Lannan as the sole representative of the Nationals. Yes, he's 6-5 after today. But he's had lots of quality starts with little in the way of offensive and defensive support.

I haven't really looked that hard at many of the NL pitchers, but shouldn't Wandy Rodriguez be at least in the conversation here? 7 wins, 3.21 ERA, 130 ERA+, 8.2 K/9. Could keep listing stats but you get the point, he's having an awesome season way under the radar. There are a ton of NL guys with impressive numbers though and Carlos Lee and/or Tejada seem like they should take care of the mandatory Astro so I can see why Rodriguez probably won't be on the roster.

I actually think I overlooked Lannan as the National representative. I had Zimmerman backing up Wright at 3b, and Adam Dunn in the voting for the 33rd man. There might be more pitchers that deserve it more than Lannan, but I have an hour and a half to revise my predictions.

Thank you!

IMO it goes like this

NL Starters
1.Tim Lincecum (selected)
2.Dan Haren (selected)
3.Josh Johnson (selected)
4.Yovani Gallardo (Major snub IMO Ted Lilly doesn't deserve his spot)
5.Matt Cain (selected)
6.Chad Billingsley (selected)
7.Javier Vazquez (Snubed Johan Santana's legacy strikes again)

NL Closers
1.Heath Bell (selected)
2.Francisco J. Rodriguez (selected)
3.Jonathan Broxton (selected)
4.Ryan Franklin (selected)
5.Brian Wilson Snubed but Francisco Cordero a good selection too)
6.Huston Street (Snubed by Jason Marquis's mediocore at best season)

AL Starers
1.Zack Greinke (selected)
2.Roy Halladay (selected)
3.Felix Hernandez (selected)
4.Justin Verlander (selected)
5.Edwin Jackson (selected)
6.Jered Weaver (Victim of Wakefeild missing allstar game for so long)
7.Josh Beckett (selected)

AL Closers
1.Joe Nathan (selected)
2.Mariano Rivera (selected)
3.Brian Fuentes (selected)
4.Jonathan Papelbon (selected)
5.David Aardsma (Andrew Bailey? Even Joe Madden said they had to pick someone from Oakland)
6.Bobby Jenks (Mark Buehrle probably the correct choice)
