take this as another knock on espn or however you want, and im going to post the link on here as well, but jay bilas talking about the winners of the draft and saying his big winner is the timberwolves. Minnesota? WTF? They drafted a pg that is over hyped and may not even play in the NBA this season, and a pg that had one of the highest turnover ratio's in the league? How's drafting two pg's in a row make you a winner? also with wayne ellington. i swear if they play in the ACC he and dick vitale say they are the greatest things ever. oh and did you notice on draft night that dick vitale said tyler "over rated" hansbrough was going to average 16 and 8 rebounds in the NBA?

i don't know but 95% of the guys bilas and vitale have hyped up over the last 9 years since the draft was on espn have done nothing.

so what do you guys think?

I don't like college guys being the main focus of draft coverage but I don't think that example is proof. They just don't look at these players all year in terms of modern NBA success. These days you can't just look at the best college players and know who will be good. Now the problem is that there isn't someone like Mel Kiper because the NBA draft is short and often after the first few picks largely insignificant. Truth is none of these people have any clue who will be successful in the NBA. They can only point out what strengths and weaknesses are. The problem your right about though is that the college guys only look at guys in terms of their production and they aren't qualified to judge.

ha well dick vitale doesnt seem to get that just because ur great in college doesnt mean ull be great in the NBA.

he was raving even MORE for J.J Redick and Adam Morrison when they were coming out of college and i knew they were both going to be busts from the start, its not hard to see.

A 6'4 streaky shooter undersized and unathletic with no defense and no passing ability? JJ is still adequate but nowhere near the hype he was getting from Dicky V.

And Morrison, lol cmon, i was trashing the guy since day one and i knew he was going to be a bust. people were comparing him to the next bird and were saying he would be a fan favorite wherever he went lmao. i wouldnt go to see morrison if someone paid me.

Although i DO believe hansborough will have a solid career because at the very least he can be a rebounding specialist because he's such a hard worker, but no, he will NEVER LEAD a team to a NBA championship as Dicky V so adamantly believes. smh...

I agree that Minny was one of the winners of the draft. If rubio stays there they have a fast backcourt and can press a whole lot of teams. Also if rubio does want out of there he is great trade bait for them.

jus because u disagree with them doesnt mean theyre bad lol
he picked timberwolves as winners b/c they did draft rubio lawson and flynn, who are all very talented. and from a talented perspective they were the draft winners . its "drafting" not whos gunna be best for the team so yea they were draft winenrs drafting flynn and rubio. Not just that whoever has 2 top 10 picks and dunt choke are draft winners

i just never see them say any draftee is bad. to them almost every guy that gets drafted is going to be a star in the nba. i mean we all know this draft was weak and for them to say half of the guys in the first round have star potential is just dumb. thats what i mean mostly.

I agree. It annoys me because these guys don't know anything about how things translate to the NBA. I'd rather they replaced Bilas with a big time NBA scout.

The college analyst dont understand how to translate players from college to the NBA because they dont understand how much more talented you have to be to succeed in the NBA. Playing against guys who are students first and basketball players second is a totally different world from playing against guys who's job is to play basketball.

I really stopped listening to all the Draft hype after 04. They overrate the players so much its not even funny. Each year they choose a kid or two and label him a "star" and the "next big thing". ESPN can come suck my dick.

i think flynn and ellington will be a solid backcourt so i agree. i think they will trade rubio for another big or a sf. i also think hansbrough will be better than jj and morrison and will have a solid career as a star player. not superstar, but star level stats. minny could have done a lot worse in this draft than finding a backcourt for the future.

You can't judge the draft until 2-3 years later, I agree that a majority of them are idiots who will say anything to get on tv, but NCAA talent is a joke compared to NBA.

That's their job? They're supposed to hype up players and praise these guys. They probably get paid for lines that mention the conference that the player comes from or the program that produced them.

According to Dick Vitale, Stephen Curry will be ROY.

Might as well don him the next Jordan.
