View Full Version : Rubio could stay in Europe?

Cubs Win

Four and 10 in the morning, Esteve Rubio, Ricky's father, serves MARCA.com call to give their first impressions of what happened in the 'Draft'. Y lo deja bien claro: "Con esta elección, es posible que juegue un año o dos más en Europa". And it makes clear: "With this election, it is possible to play a year or two in Europe."

The father of the player is clear: "You can go now, one can stay for up to two years .... Everything is open, although it is likely to continue for some time in Europe. We need to talk to the people of Minnesota .. . and see what happens, because, at this time, we may be in Minnesota or elsewhere, "he said.

Para la familia, "el 'Draft' ha sido una experiencia increíble. Ricky lo ha disfrutado, incluso en los momentos más tensos. Es una experiencia que te ocurre una vez en la vida. Lo hemos pasado genial". For the family, "the 'Draft' has been an incredible experience. Ricky has enjoyed even during the most tense. It is an experience that happens once in your life. We had a great".

it pastes it in spanish? really? i love it when things like that happen.

and to your question, id say yesterday there were two draw backs for rubio.

1.- being draft by minni.

2.- not being the only pg being draft by minni.

so now they are theat going back to spain trying to force a trade. but it wont happen. minni is gonna ask to much for him, so not even NY are gonna go for him. so, hell go back to spain and wait for a year, at least.

and i think, for us, ball fans, its a real shame

Agree with the posters; Rubio basically shot himself in the foot when he refused to come to Memphis in person ; in the process devaluing himself. Memphis may have gotten a better deal. I dunno.....we got Thabeet and so I'm happy enough.

Rubio's acting like this because he has to pay his Spanish team 6 million dollars (or euros? not sure) in order to get out of his contract there and play in the NBA. If I was paying 6 million dollars in order to play in the NBA, i want make sure I get my money's worthon a team where I fit the best in also. I'm not about to pay 6 million dollars and spent my rookie season sitting on the bench.

b)most high draft picks go to terrible teams
c)if you don't want to earn your way to being a good NBA player, go back to Spain

Rubio has a big problem

and thats it.

****ING NBA TEAMS CAN ONLY PAY 500k Bucks for buyouts ( soemthing that stupid stern should adress like RIGHT NOW) he is going to have to plahy for FREE his first nba contract wherever he goes unles he stays 2 more years in spain and its a FA.

Stupid 5th pick money is not even ENOUGH to pay hsi buyout so he basically CANT buy his contract out and go play in Minnie unlesss Nike, or Mcdonalds, or whatever goes and signs him a sponsorship and pays for the buyoyut.

Is Minnie enough of a market for such a thing to happen?

So basically if woves want him they will have to wait.

If they dont then trade him to a big market where asponsorship can be found.

Oh and of course he didnt like the slightest bit wovle spicking not 1 but THREE more PG.

he does not want to go there PLAY FOR free to be BENCHED by a team he doe snot like, in a city he does not like.

I agree. He's sheadding a huge amount of money so it's a risk for him. I heard he's only making around 90k-100k dollars right now playing for Joventut. And they're making him play 6 million for his buyout. Where is he gonna get the dough to pay for it??

while Lee just adds to our frontcourt heaviness at PF, and Nate is small, it adds 2 more young talented peices to deal with at the very least. If this goes thru, I was hoping to get more for him, like not another PF, and a 5'9" SG, but is what it is. thats 33 ppg, and a double double threat to add to our other 2 double double threats

It is totaly mature. If Rubio can't accept being payed millions of dollars to play with a ball, then he should have his abilities taken away from him. Contemporary society puts up with *****y professional athletes way too much. It's time to teach them to be grateful that they can be rich while being of no practical use to society. but still Griffin is in california... Minni is a terrible place to play for cocky egotistical players... they need to glowry... and the money... people might love the game but they are all here for the money...you dont travel half way accross the world to play for a crappy team... if you have to shell out 8 million dollars... just like devon george and kg have a right in their contract to deny any trade they want... he has the right to sit in Europe for 2 years if he wants to until he gets into the best possible position for him and his family...

i like what Jennings did.. still a top 10 and he actually got to live in Europe at like 19 thats awesome.. i hope more kids do that.. it will help this game expand..

I agree fully, Kahn seems to be in love with Rubio, in his post draft conference he had this look in his eyes as he talked about Rubio's skills like he saw the future of the franchise flash before him. Rubio has said he will play as long as he gets minutes, and Kahn has insisted we'll keep him. I know the people behind the scenes are different, but Fred Hoiberg said the SAME thing about Mayo last year, so Wolves fans are a little weary. Hopefully all sides will hold up their ends.

lol Why would we give up all of our assets, are you kidding?

We don't lose anything from Rubio going to Europe, you guys do.

The ball is in Rubio's court, my friend.

The ball is also in the T-Wolves court. Do you really think we are going to give a guy of Rubio's talent up for another undersized PF and Nate Robinson? Don't get me wrong I love Nates game and has improved big time the past season but that makes me want to puke. Kahn has no problem at all to hold Rubio hostage for 3 years. Rubio either decides to come back after 1 or 2 years to play for us to showcase his skills before he gets a new contract elsewhere or we deal him after his value grows much more than todays.

And until I see quotes from RICKY RUBIO I really don't care what is said. Rubio you said you want mins they are definalty here in Minneapolis.

Oh and one more side note.

Quote me if you have to. If Rubio doesn't play this year. Jonny Flynn wins rookie of the year GUARNTEED.

Okay look man. You guys act like you're holding a ransom or something.

The Knicks don't NEED to trade for Rubio, they'd just like to. It would be nice, but the ones who have their backs against the wall is Minnesota.
Rubio could effectively never play in the NBA by staying in Spain because he frankly, just does not want to play in Minnesota.

In that case, you guys just throw away a lottery pick and lose out on a huge talent and have nothing to make of it.

I doubt that looks good in the eyes of the fans for Mr. Kahn.

I wish you guys the best in this situation but just know that you're not getting Chandler in this deal.
