View Full Version : Big Ben for Chandler?

The Suns and Rockets have denied that they've had discussions about a deal that would send Amare Stoudemire to the Rockets for a package that would include Tracy McGrady.
However, there is now talk about trading Ben Wallace to the Hornets for Tyson Chandler. The salaries work, and the Hornets could benefit financially if Wallace retires or is bought out, while the Suns would get a much-needed starting center.

I understand you're upset over it and so am I, but remember, this hasn't happened yet. You are acting as if it already happened.

It seems the Hornets are also trying to clear cap space. Would you guys do a Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, and the rights to the 48th pick (Taylor Griffin) for Tyson Chandler? It would save your team money and could jumpstart your sweepstakes for the 2010 free agents.

i guess i want the cap space so we can trade west for noah and sign big baby. dont want pavlovic. guess couldnt hurt to have rights to someone you can cut for free tho.

Not necessarily. Ben would retire leaving us with a decent of money. We would be able to pick someone up that can make us a contender. I love Chandler and I want him to be able to back to his old self, but I don't see it happening.

I think Chandler can get to somewhat of his old form since he is still decently young.

I hope so. It's just that darn foot of his. I'd love for that to happen and him be a Hornet. I really like Tyson.

1.) That doesn't answer my question.
2.) How do you know he will be a better player?
I'm not saying he won't be, but I'm not taking a chance on a guy that might be good one day.

The Suns are said to still be considering trading Ben Wallace to the Hornets for Tyson Chandler.
Chandler's mobility and defensive presence should work well with Steve Nash, but the Suns could end up tying their own hands financially again with such a deal. And that seems pointless after they just gave up Shaquille O'Neal in a salary dump.

If we do trade for Wallace and give away Chandler and buyout Wallace's contract how much money will we be able to use in free agency?

I don't think there will be a buy out.

why wouldnt there be? he may retire. i think before any trade happens there has to be some agreement that Wallace will retire.

So this is just an idea...no link or anything... but if Miami gets Wade to resign so you think NO would consider Chandler + Posey for Haslem + Jones + Blount (all three of which are expiring deals)... This would obviously be mostly a cap clearing move for you all

I don't think there will be a buy out.

it would be buyout/retirement

Patrick Swayze

it would be buyout/retirement

I guess I don't really get how that works.

I guess I also don't get why the Hornets would think that that's a good idea to make a trade like that.

THE HORNETS ARE DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
ESPN's Ric Bucher suggested on his Twitter page late Friday night that the Suns could get Tyson Chandler for Ben Wallace.

"FYI: Phx can deal Big Ben for Ty Chandler anytime they want. They're checking all other options before going down that road," Bucher wrote.

Phoenix acquired Wallace from Cleveland in the Shaquille O'Neal trade.

i feel ya Patrick.... this is very demoralizing. I wouldnt even know what to do with myself if this goes through.

If this does go through, what are the Hornets game plan then? What is their reasoning behind this? I'd guess saving money, but for what? Going after another free agent center with more money? Saving money for next year's FA market? Im not too sure...thought?

Patrick Swayze

It would be dumb to save for two years. I hate building for the future. Play for today.

Jeff Bower is such a tool.

Yea, i'd rather the Maxiell and Kwame trade

tland22
07-04-2009, 02:04 PM
we should just keep him, but yea anything better than ben wallace and his contract. I mean, if we did this and free'd up money would we then be able to sign BASS and a decent center such as Zaza Pachulia or someone else???? or is that option strill going to be closed? Because I would likely argue that If we can use the "money we are allegedly saving" in this deal, then I wouldnt mind using it now to sign Bass and get another center who is almost as productive as TC...ya know?
