View Full Version : Rumor: Big Ben for Tyson Chandler?

The Suns and Rockets have denied that they've had discussions about a deal that would send Amare Stoudemire to the Rockets for a package that would include Tracy McGrady.
However, there is now talk about trading Ben Wallace to the Hornets for Tyson Chandler. The salaries work, and the Hornets could benefit financially if Wallace retires or is bought out, while the Suns would get a much-needed starting center.

Ben Wallace is just getting bounced around... this is ridiculous

Kerr pulls some of these trade rumors off and he's not the idiot I thought he was

Yea it's a little sad how Kerr quickly turned into Isiah, I honestly thought PHX would have dominated everyone when they got Shaq.

Well if the Suns get Chandler then they probably won't be trading Amare.

It's not Kerr's fault the Suns majorly underachieved this season.

Is this even possible? How can they trade Wallace to Suns than redirect him to the Hornets?

I thought there was a waiting time period......

That was the explanation for having the 3 team trade with the pistons sending oberto to the Pistons. Because it was against the rules to trade him after he was traded right away????

Am I missing something?????

Everybody knows that Ben Wallace is finished, so they're all playing hot potato to see who can make out the best.

So.....

Nash
JRich
Barnes
????
Chandler/Biedrins

If they trade for Chandler, dealing Amare for #7 and Biedrins makes no sense unless he can play PF.

(Maybe they could swing Scola/TMac for Amare type deal.)

Nash
JRich
TMac
Scola
Chandler

Artest
Battier
Amare

My mind is going crazy right now are we keeping amare or not. Hopefully we get tyson chandler and keep amare. Trade jason richardson, barbosa, and tucker for tmac. Lineup:
Pg. Nash/dragic
Sg. Tmac/14th pick
Sf. Hill/dudley
Pf. Amare/ amundson
C. Chandler/ lopez

Chandler for Big Ben is a good trade for both teams. Honestly, Phoenix should have to give NO their 2nd rounder or the 2nd rounder they got from the Cavs (#46 or #48)

I honestly don't see how this works. I don't think this trade is even possible under the NBA rules???? anybody have any info on this before we talk even more about this??? seems impossible.

i heard you have 48 hours after a trade to redirect a player. idk i could be wrong.

Being a Hornets fan, i really don't know what to think about this. As long as Ben retires. I just don't know what they would do to fill that spot at center if Tyson leaves. Hilton Armstrong is a solid back up, but I don't think he can start.

Well the bucks had to include Oberto in the pistons in the trade. They didn't redirect oberto because they couldn't according to websites I have looked at.

No indeed Hilton cannot start. This is a NIGHTMARE for Hornets fans... I guess the Hornets arent too concerned about contending next year...unless they have something else up their sleeves.....hmmmm

and Yea CP3 has got to be shaking his head right about now

If they through in Lopez then it would be better. At least we are getting something that we can keep and that can play.

This draft has crap for centers too.

Ha, true. New Orleans doesn't want him. They are just that desperate to drop some salary. I hope they drop Jeff Bower before the draft.

Never seen the forum this crazy in a while..

Haha totally. For what I do for a living, I've got tons of free time during the day and I usually just spend it online. I go back and forth from here, to the Hornets forum, to the Vikings forum, to the NFL forum and it can get boring because no one is chatting. Today, I haven't even had the chance to keep up on the threads I've been posting in in just the NBA thread.

I find it kind of strange that the Hornets cant even find a team that is willing to trade even a pick between 16-25 + an expiring contract for a talented center like Chandler.

It makes sense to me because Chandler has that foot injury that he will have for the rest of his life. I'm sure it's scaring teams off.

The Suns should trade Wallace to the Jazz for AK. AK is more healthy and would pair with Amare better in the system than Chandler. AK costs a little more, but the Suns could throw in Pavlovic to save even more for this year.

Dont think there is much truth to this rumor. Cavs and suns wanted a 3rd team in the deal and couldnt find one.. Now the hornets are ready 10 hours later not to sure... I hope it is going to happen though

Who knows. I believe there is truth because I know the Hornets are looking to get rid of Chandler. But the specific deal doesn't make sense. If it does happen, I won't be shocked.

I don't think Chandler and Pavlovic would have satisfied the CBA. Remember that Wallace is set to make over $2 million more than Chandler. The numbers probably didn't match up for a 3 team deal with NO. Pavlovic + Chandler would have been less than $17. Shaq was over $20.

I think that's why this specific trade of Chandler for Wallace is making sense right now.

I don't understand why Phoenix wouldn't use Wallace's great contract to get a player so that Nash sees management trying to put a team around him. Letting Wallace rot does nothing to keep Amare or Nash in a Suns uniform.

It has nothing to do with no one actually wants his talent. It's because of his contract and that he is going to retire no matter what.

Wallace and Pavlovic for AK saves Phoenix $1 million more ($3 million as opposed to $2) than Wallace for Chandler. Of course Phoenix will pay $5 million more next year, but that could be worried about then because Amare and Nash could be gone, etc.

This would be a great move for us, and would be a good money move for them if Wallace retires.
