League executives say the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors have discussed a possible trade that is centered around sending Amare Stoudemire to the Warriors for a package that would include Andris Biedrins and the No. 7 pick in the draft.

do they really lose out all that much if Amare decides to leave at the end of this season anyway? I'd pull the trigger on this deal if:
1. I knew amare weren't coming back
or
2. I was unsure of amare coming back and I had my eye on someone I knew I could get at #7 I was really high on.

This sounds good for both sides.

Amare is a better offensive big man who fits perfectly in the run and gun, no defense scheme in Golden State and Biedrins is accustomed to that and is a better rebounder + defender. Not to mention the draft pick as well..

It seems like the warriors have become the Suns part 2. This would be a good trade for both team assuming Amare signs an extension right after though. He has expressed interest in the Knicks for 2010 also and I think the idea of Nash going to the Knicks joining D'Antoni might influence Amares decision

I would make this deal because Amare will go for the money in 2010. I think he's going to walk easily. He's had major injuries the last few seasons and while he's still an elite 4, he can be replaced. The combination of Biedrins, the 7th and 14th can add a good up tempo guard/forward and a SF/PF type. Clark, and Jennings would be a nice draft for them. ^^^ Johnson actually has a good chance to be a similar Marion type. He might not be as good, but he has that type of potential.

Good trade for both teams...

Amare would love the bay area... If the warriors win games, make the playoffs and show amare big money, I'm sure amare would re-sign with golden state. IMO

I would miss goose, but I would do this trade if I were the warriors...

Great trade... Biedrins is way underrated

One of the best defensive centers in the league and he has a budding offensive game.

If Biedrins gets stronger and a few go-to post moves he will be a BEAST

thedfactor
06-25-2009, 03:37 PM
This deal is pretty even for both teams.

Amare would fit perfect in the small ball Nellie style at the center spot. He would give the Warriors an explosive force down low, better than any player they'd add in the draft.

Meanwhile for the Suns they add Biedrins who has improved a lot and is a legit NBA center now. He gives Phoenix a nice young true center to replace Shaq and Amare.

Also the Suns really do well in receiving the 7th pick which I believe they should use on Hill to play the 4 eventually. And they keep the 14th which they could use for a point guard insurance policy in case Nash is moved...

i was just wondering, if the suns get the pick before the warriors draft what will happen on the big board, will it continue to say warriors at 7 or will it change to the suns and would stern know that the suns were now drafting at 7 or would the trade have to be anounced after the draft and the warriors would just draft for the suns?

It's like the NFL Draft. Stern would go up and say. There has been a trade "The Warriors have traded the 7th pick along with blah blah to the Suns for Amare" or after the Suns pick there will be a trade like when they got Wright in 07. It would just be breaking news and it would say the Warriors trade the rights of (whoever they selected) along with blah blah to the Suns for Amare and the rights to(whoever the suns selected) possibly. As a Warriors fan I see this being a stupid trade.

UPDATE: However, contrary to logic, another executive said the Warriors are keeping Curry. The pieces going to Phoenix, the executive said, would be Andris Biedrins, Marco Belinelli, and Julian Wright. The deal can't go through until July 1, and Stoudemire needs to agree to a contract extension with Golden State, which can't be signed until July 8.

or we can just keep biedrins...

The Warriors organization treats AB like crap. He isn't overpaid at all. He is one helluva player and the Warriors take him for granted. We can't just let go every good player we have. This is exactly why the Warriors Franchise is in the sewer. Say we do get rid of Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli and Curry. Then what happens when 2010 rolls around, Amare leaves and we get Bosh. We would just spent a max contract right there for a player who doesn't deserve it. Biedrins has a reasonable contract. Wright needs to be given a chance, and we have seen what Marco can do. We have a good core of players and we can win with them. Dismantling this team is the last thing we need.

Efficiency Per 48 Minutes

Biedrins: 32.87
Stoudamire: 29.94

Sure, Biedrins isn't the offense force that Amare is, but he is more efficient.
Biedrins averaged a double-double. Amare is one helluva player, but Biedrins is pretty good in his own right. If the Warriors traded a guy who averages a double-double for a rental player, it will go down as one of the biggest steals in NBA history.

Exactly!!!:clap::rock::nod::badidea:

Even stupider for the WARRIORS b/c he would play one season & be out.:bang::no::crazy:

You actually wrote "stupider"

I find it interesting that the people who make the least sense also have the worst grammar.

I love Biedrins, but Amare will always be the better player.

Ellis, Jack, Randolph and Amare will be great together. If they use the mid level on a good defensive 3, we can move Maggette for Stackhouse and clear the money we need to re-sign Amare and add another piece.

I wouldnt doubt it if amare cuts out early, I mean the wearriors have a bad trade history, and I really dont know if Amare would like Nellie's advice, I mean Im tired of reading that this player and that player has problems with nelson, I mean yeah hes a good coach,... or was a good coach, but I really wouldnt mind a change in coaching. Just dont bring in montgomery back, because he SUCKED

its good for both, the suns need to clear house and thats what the G.S. is missing a big man that can run the floor and can get you 20 and 10

That ***** is gone in 2010.

GS is hilarious, they act like they're building a team for the future, then they wanna pull the trigger for a big name that surely wont stick around after next season.

They Pass on a big that they need regardless of Amare, for another guard who rather go back to Davidson for another year than play for the Warriors.

Don Nelson has no vision, the guy is pure gimmick.
