New York Knicks officials are telling peers they have purchased the Lakers’ No. 29 pick.

The Knicks are planning to draft a point guard with their choice at No. 8, and sources say they’re targeting a big man at 29.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said on Wednesday the team hoped to sell its pick and use to money to help re-sign free agents Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza.

:D

It may be the 29th but at least we have 2 picks in this draft to fill the many holes this team has.
We could even move up to Minny's 18th/

I read they were thinking about taking UMiami Guard Jack McClinton. Guys small, barely cracks six foot, but guy can shoot.

Not shocking. They were either going to sell it, or draft a guy like Calathes, who is going to play overseas and not have to pay him. Now they have a decent amount more money to put into their off-season priorities.

Definitely a good move for both teams.

i think he won the three point shooting contest. i like the kid. he does fit the d'antoni offense quite well.

Ugh, I wish the Spurs would have bit on that. I know it's the almost last pick but it would have been at least a little higher than 37.

The NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers have sold the No. 29 pick in the first round of the NBA draft to the New York Knicks for $3 million, multiple sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

I read some where they were looking to take Jack McCliton out of the University of Miami in the late first round if the bought this pick.

I think Knicks go with Jordan Hill at 8 if hes there and then draft a PG at 29 (Darren Collison, Patty Mills, Nick Calathes)

If that's true (no offense but it seems hard to believe something only heard on here) then the Lakers are going to have to give up a hell of a lot to get the number two pick in the draft or the rights to Rubio. Whatever happens I'll be glad as long as Ariza and Odom come back, but to be quite honest I would prefer Ricky Rubio not tarnish this excellent Lakers team. He won't be that good, mark my words. Brandon Jennings called him out and was spot on.

My wife's step-dads housekeeper is dating Kenyon Martin and I have inside info that the Lakers are going to use that $3M to send the Birdman to the best rehab clinic in Colorado so nobody will have to watch him flap his wings and try to fly around on the court anymore.

Are you serious? It was a great move. That pick would have given us a player we wouldn't use. Instead, we get a lot of money to help this offseason.

Because we could have drafted a euro and stash him overseas to develop for a few years..But I like the 3 mil also...I said stupid because the 3 mil payment was not posted earlier...I thought we sold it for cheap...

Jack McClinton has a little bit of Nate Robinson in him. I can see why they'd like that style. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually target Jermaine Taylor, who led the NCAA in scoring last season at over 32 ppg.

McClinton in the first round...
he's basically a basketball player Anthony Roberson dreamed of being one day...

He can ball out of control and I think has alot of tricks in his bag. The only knock on him is height but he was one of ACC's best players last year.

Good for both teams. Knicks get another first rounder that they wanted (see my avatar for the last month) and Lakers save guaranteed money they can spend on Ariza and Odom.

If the Lakers kept this pick they would need money to sign the guy they would have taken and Odom and Ariza, good move for LA.

STUPID move for the LAKERS!!!!!!!!!

how? no one is leaving, and they don't have the space. plus, they get a pick later, and the 3 mil helps to sign odom and trevor and shannon. why waste the pick on someone that would be at best the 15th man on the roster.

Supposedly Tony Douglas was a steal at #29. I know nothing about him but time will tell.

The lakers could've said Isiah Thomas sexually assaulted them a few years ago and had the cash, no questions asked.
