since 32 is held by J smith and 34 is retired in Cleveland?

I think he may want to sport #33 the one he used on LSU.

or maybe he'll pull a garnett and be like a random number like 6. but that would look bad on him.

he needs a double digit number. 24?:D

32. No question about. Joe Smith can wear number 8 as he has before in his career.

He's going to demand to wear #23 and 23 only. There will be rifts on the team from the get go, but in the end, the team will co-exist and they will spread joy across the world.

This is really much ado about the big nothing. Shaq was a terrific center, he is no longer terrific, just good. He is no longer that quick big man, he is just a big man.

He'll end up with 32, he's got the money if he has to buy it.

He'll be wearing #32 Joe smith is a free agent and even if he was not he would just have to give that number up

I'm actually shocked about Shaq.

I remember back in 2006 when the Heat won it all I mentioned Shaq would probably retire a year after that. He said he was going to play until his contract ended which will be next season.

I just didn't think Shaq would be around until 2010.

Joe Smith is a free agent anyway this summer, so it doesn't matter. Shaq will wear #32.

well shooting 60% from the field scoring 18ppg on 11atempts per game and adding 8.5rebs and 1.5 blks in the west is a lil better than good..... and to top if off his rebs will go up in cleveland 10+ easy, dont forget there are very few real centres in the league he is still prolly the best

Shaquille O'Neal hasn't picked out a house in Cleveland yet. He has chosen a jersey number -- his old one.

Shaq is going back to No. 33.

Traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, the 15-time All-Star has decided to wear 33, the team confirmed Friday. That's the number O'Neal wore in high school and at LSU before turning pro. O'Neal wore No. 32 when he was in Orlando and while he played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami and Phoenix.

A frequent user of Twitter, the social networking site, the 37-year-old O'Neal posted a message late Thursday night saying he planned to play longer than the one year he has left under contract.

"My numbers are not good enough to retire 3 more yrs left," he tweeted.

btw on this notewhat happens when some new player comes in and asks to wear a number of a great player on ur team who isn't retired yet?

For ex. Shaq. Now what happens if when Gasol came he'd wanna play as 34. Do the owners just refuse it?

ogtransphat
06-27-2009, 10:28 AM
He'll be #32. if Joe Smith stays he's a team player and will keep him happy.Unless he picks 99 to rep. his last year if he's gonna retire. Also, he'll change his name from the big shaqtus to the shaqilier

its nog strange that players wear numbers that will CLEARLY be retired later.

for example everybody in la knew 25 woudl be retired but he still was wore by some players until it actually happened.

thats how some teams have numbers retired for two players, same number
