Alright here's where I'd like to keep strictly formulas. Anyone can feel free to post here and ill edit this first post with more formulas that you guys add into the thread, i dont have much right now but im sure you guys will have no problem adding to the list... (When posting formulas please also define the variables as well so i can continue to update that list)

Formula List:

On-base percentage (OBP) = (H + BB + HBP) / (AB + BB + HBP + SF)

Slugging percentage (SLG) = (1B) + (2B X 2) + (3B X 3) + (HR X 4) / ABs

OPS = OBP + SLG

wOBA = (0.72xNIBB + 0.75xHBP + 0.90x1B + 0.92xRBOE + 1.24x2B + 1.56x3B +1.95xHR) / PA

IsoP = SLG - AVG

Gross Production Average = (1.8 * OBP + SLG) / 4

Gross Production Average Runs = PA * 1.356 * (GPA ^ 1.77)

BABIP = (H-HR) / (AB-K-HR+SF)

Base Runs (Hitters) = A * (B / (B + C)) + D

Where

A = H + BB + HBP - HR - .5*IBB
B = (1.4*TB - .6*H - 3*HR + .1*(BB + HBP - IBB) + .9*(SB - CS - DP))*1.1
C = AB - H + CS + DP
D = HR

Base Runs (Pitchers) = A * (B / (B + C)) + D

Where

A = H + BB - HR
B = (1.4*(1.12*H + 4*HR) - .6*H - 3*HR + .1*BB)*1.1
C = 3*IP
D = HR

WAR for Pitchers (http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/6/20/919602/war-lords-of-the-diamond-pitchers)
WAR for Position Players (http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/6/12/906943/war-lords-of-the-diamond-position)

Where...

H = Hit
BB = Base on Balls (Walks)
HBP = Hit by Pitch
AB = At Bats
SF = Sacrifice Flys
TB = Total Bases
K = Strikeout
1B = Singles
2B = Doubles
3B = Triples
HR = Homerun
PA = Plate Appearances
NIBB = Non Intentional Base on Balls
RBOE = Reached Base on Error
GPA = Gross Production Average

IsoP = SLG-AVG much easier than that calculation.

Gross Production Average- (1.8 * OBP + SLG)/4

Gross Production Average Runs- PA * 1.356 * (GPA ^ 1.77)

I think you should explain GPA since most aren't familiar with it.

I think you should explain GPA since most aren't familiar with it.

GPA is simply the correct form of OPS on a batting average scale. OPS undervalues the walk, and GPA fixes that.

Gross Production Average Runs is the conversion of GPA into runs created. All in all, it's a much simpler (and more accurate) form of Equivalent Average (EqA).

How about the equation for BABIP?

Gigantes4Life

BABIP=(H-HR)/(AB-K-HR+SF)

xBABIP=.15 * FB% + .24 * GB% + .73 * LD% OR LD%+.12

The first is better.

Equation for PECOTA?

Equation for PECOTA?

Not going to find it here or anywhere else. PECOTA is built on proprietary data, and there's more than one equation for it.

Maybe its just me, but it'd be a lot easier to understand the formulas if there was some text with each explaining what its supposed to do.

There is for the majority of them. You just have to look.
