A source with direct knowledge of Oklahoma City's situation told ESPN's Andy Katz that the Thunder are working on the details of Ricky Rubio's buyout.

NBA teams can pay up to a maximum of $500,000 to free players from overseas contracts, but the Thunder want the process to be smooth should they select him.

if this is true, it pretty much locks up the first 3 picks. it'll go griffin, thabeet, and rubio.

Hopefully rubio will play for them. Bad pick if you ask me.

I really doubt that the Thunder are thinking of Rubio

Makes no sense for the Thunder to draft Rubio.

Just take James Harden for a 1 to punch.

Harden + Durant = Scary
Add Green and Westbrooke to the mix and your a Center away from being a playoff team in a year or two.

They could just be seeing what the buyout looks like so they don't get screwed over if they DID pick him.

Any team would do this if they were remotely considering Rubio..right?

I really wish that you were the GM of the THUNDER because I am with you 100% harden in this mix would be an exciting team. They don't nee another PG Westbrook is doing his job well

Yep, and Westbrook did play some SG at UCLA. If they could some how get Chandler again, they will be set for a while.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have hired a prestigious Barcelona law firm to assist them should they draft Spanish guard Ricky Rubio.

Rubio has a large buyout with Spanish team DKV Joventut Badalona, and Thunder officials are using the firm to brief them on the country’s contract law and procedures. Thunder GM Sam Presti met with Rubio and his agent this past weekend.

I guess they will get rubio and then trade him ( or westbrook) for James harden and some other pick

why not just draft harden in the first place? why hire law firms and pay them as well

Just make it real simple and draft harden the dude is going to be a stud. I feel that rubio is a risky pick and thabeet is going to be the next poster child because everyone will dunk on him just like maunute bol

Sam Presti OKC's GM never puts out info on who they're looking picking in the draft or potential trades. He didnt do it when he was in Seattle and I doubt hes doing it in OKC. So I doubt theres a source in the OKC front office thats giving people all this information.

Why do the Thunder worry so much about Ricky Rubio? Russell Westbrook is a great point guard. As the Thunder get more options, he will only have an easier time being a great point guard. Besides, he isn't big enough to turn into a shooting guard. Westbrook has already proven that he can be a triple double threat. Why don't the Thunder focus on convincing Memphis to take Rubio so that they can get Thabeet? They need a center, not another point guard.

most important the same Westbrook has told he is NOT GOING to play Sg and that okc shoudl take Harden.

I really hope we don't select Rubio. I'm set on Harden, as he fits in perfectly with who we already have.
