Ric Bucher said that Cleveland is really interested in NY Knick big man Eddy Curry and they could deal Ben Wallace for him. Cleveland wants a big body in the paint to play defense and do some scoring.

I can't imagine this is true.

They had a chance of getting Chris Kaman for Ben Wallace, instead they are trying to get Eddy Curry for Ben Wallace. Does that make sense?

Eddy is supposed to be training hard this summer.... he could come back and be somewhat useful on offense

Curry for Big Ben isn't a bad deal... as a Knick fan I would love this trade just for the expiring contract we get

curry's contract only has 2 more years, Kaman has a horrible contract. Also people forget Curry use to give DH fits, Howard said Curry was one of his toughest covers...

Curry for Ben is a TERRIBLE deal. Why are Knick fans trying to justify this? Curry is fat and on a horrible contract.

Kaman's horrible contract might be the difference between champions and just contenders. Howard has a lack of post moves, thus Curry's big body gives him fits, but Howard is getting better. Curry is not going to be the difference between winning a champion, atleast if they had Kaman they could've shipped out Z for a Guard/Wing.

Cause it can be beneficial for both teams... Knicks get a expiring contract and the Cavs get offensive juggernaut of a big man (when he's healthy)

He's actually not that much of a fall of from Ben Wallace, but I can see why Cavs fans would want nothing to do with him. It's a great move for the Knicks.

the biggest problem cap wise for the knicks is currys contract. if the cavs make a deal for curry they are essentially giving the knicks a better chance of signing lebron. i cant see why they would do that.

Cavs essentially hand NY a guarantee shot at 2 max contracts in 2010. ONly Jared would have to go and he has 6 million which shouldn't be too hard to move.

Not happening though, Curry doesn't play defense and is only good for post scoring.

In every Eddy Curry thread there will always be fat jokes but Eddy can do something that no one else on Cleveland can do (except Lebron if he wanted) and that's score in the low post and demand double and even triple teams. If you think that wouldn't add another dimension to the Cavs, open things up for their shooters or take some pressure of Lebron when Cleveland needs some scoring, than you're wrong.

If the Knicks included #8 and the Cavs #30, I think it's a fair trade. Ben Wallace doesn't do anything valuable anymore. At least Curry can bang for a few quarters each game. If he even halfway came back to form, he'd be better than Wallace. The Cavs would get #8 too to make up for the money Curry takes in 2010-11. If Curry, Evans or Rubio isn't there at #8, does NY really want anybody that badly anyway?

This would be a two birds with one stone deal, BOOM BANG! Dump that god awful contract to sign big names in 2010, and give Lebron even more of a reason to leave since his team can't seem to surround him with anything but bums. Go NY!

I would love for cleveland to make any trade with the knicks at this point. This just gives new york more cap room to sign free agents in 2010 which means they won't sign anybody this offseason, which means they will suck, which means very high draft pick for the jazz next year thanks to the pick they own.

Ok, as a Bulls fan, we've had both players on our team and I must say, I would much rather have Ben wallace in his last couple year(s) in the league then Eddy Curry in his prime (if he even had one)

Bulls coach Scott Skiles was asked how the team's center, Eddy Curry, could improve his rebounding. His answer? "Jump." Strong language from a coach

Ohhh the good ol Eddy Curry days

Ben Wallace in his last couple years

2.9 PPG 1.3 BPG 6.5 RPG
4.2 PPG 1.7 BPG 7.4 RPG
5.1 PPG 1.6 BPG 8.8 RPG

Eddy Curry in his prime
19.5 PPG .5 BPG 7 RPG

The rebounds are somewhat close. The scoring is nowhere near close. The blocking also clearly favors Wallace.

Again, if you have a defender to play with Curry like the Cavs have (Varejao) than you have a capable player. I don't think you want redundancy at the PF and C spot, something the Bulls still are learning...

Well said. I think the Knicks would take a crappy year in 2009-10 if they could get rid of the contracts of Curry and Jeffries before the season. That extra $20+ million in 2010 could mean another max player or a few mid range players.

its hilarious knicks are trying to get rid of curry to help them sign lebron while the cavs are trying to get curry to help keep curry. This would be huge for knicks. I mean even if lebron stays it gives them more money to sign 2 max free agents and maybe another decent player. This would be huge for knicks

Uhm getting a lottery pick and Eddy Curry for Ben Wallace and the last pick of the draft sounds horribly skewed and unfair.

For who? If the Knicks don't have Curry's contract in 2010, they could use that money to sign Joe Johnson, Manu Ginobli, Amare, Bosh or some other elite player. Do you really think the #8 pick in the draft will be as good as any of the names above?

I dont agree with your user name (durant is great) but I definitely agree with this comment you made about Curry. I rather the team keep a washed up Ben Wallace than trade for Eddie Curry. Eddie Curry has been given numerous opportunities and the bottom line is he has never and will never live up to his HS hype that he had. And to thing they called him the next Shaq that was almost as bad as calling Harold Minor "Baby" Jordan.

what is ben wallace making next year?

This would be a great trade for the knicks, and wouldn't be too terrible, if Eddy came in healthy and played a lot. I term him an Offensive Specialist, and as such, he is overpaid, but maybe next to a real star he can thrive (but I wouldn't count on it, and I wouldn't want him on my favorite team).

some ppl Are not real bball heads ... in Chi Curry was a beast on the Offensive end , he has a left hand , a right hand bka his hands are soft . he gave Shaq in his prime fits ... i think if Curry gets his mind right can be a force . he was always Lazy Defensively , but when his mind is on the game he and Tyson chandler was hard to score on ... we had the 2nd best D 2 years running with him in the middle . i think its a win win ... Ben Wallace is Trash and old , maybe LBJ can whip Curry into a real Baller . and if he does he is the best Big in the Nba hands down ... trust me , i seen him in Chicago kill big names with ease only to lay down and punk out in between ..... he shouldve went to school .
