What are some trades you expect teams to make??

Which teams are going to have fire sales, and what teams will be buyers?

What do you expect your team to do?

Please keep it realistic.:)

Pitching is all the Giants really have to offer to get a quality bat, so who would they give up?

you know the orioles are only 7gb out of the wild card, i probably expect them to be sellers though. i wish that they would keep huff and scott, they can trade guthrie, baez, sherrill, and possibly mora. i am really struck on brian roberts, does he have enough to bring it in a couple years, or is he past his prime, so we could trade him when his value is really high, i want to keep huff, but i guess we could trade him and then re-sign him to get some talent back and give him a chance at a world series, i think scott has got to be a keeper..
the nats are defeintely out of it... haha

When Ortiz wasn't hitting, it looked like they Red Sox would have to trade for a big bat. But not so more anymore. When Nick Green was struggling it looked like the Red Sox would trade for a shortstop, but now he's playing well and Jed Lowrie is a week away. When Daisuke was healthy, it looked like the Red So would trade Brad Penny, but now he's their 5th starter.

I honestly don't know. The Red Sox might not make any moves.

I think the Marlins will be buyers and will take long looks at Valverde & Holliday.

I think Valverde will be traded for pitching and/or prospects.
Holliday as well.

Hope the Dodgers pick up an arm. Oswalt or Cliff Lee would be nice, but I haven't looked into thier availability.

Don't the Yankees have a surplus of outfielders? I could see them trading Nady or Swisher.

The Tigers are in an odd position. They should be buyers and probably will. They are in first, but could use some extra pop.

BUT

They have Magglio Ordonez who's power has vanishbed and is a liability in the field. Should he get 500 plate appearences, his contract for $18 million will kick in for 2010. Maggs is still useful, but the Tigers do not want to pay $18 million next year for an aging singles hitter with iffy defense. Thames has been on fire but is notoriously streaky. Ordonez (unless he finds his power stroke) MAy get traded, but more likely cut to avoid his contract form renewing.

With that said, local chatter has them being interested in Holliday.

Don't the Yankees have a surplus of outfielders? I could see them trading Nady or Swisher.

It could happen. But lets be honest? Do either one have that much value anymore? Swisher has unforutnatley come crashing back to earth, and Nady has been out almost the whole season. If Nady comes back and contributes, then I hope Swisher gets the boot. But, they may need both of them. Right now, here's where they are standing:

-RF-Nady, Swisher,Cabrera
-CF-Gardner,Cabrera
-LF-Damon,Cabrera

Matsui is not only untradable at this point, he can't play the field.

I don't see much reason in trading Nady. Swisher has been great in the clubhouse, and hasn't been terrible on the field..but there is certainly A LOT of room for improvement.

I don't think either will be moved now, but maybe in the offseason.

The New york mets are going to have to get someone if we really want to make the playoffs. Everyone says they might add derosa or huff but I dont think thats what we need. Derosa has some power and he gets a lot of hits. The mets already get there hits. The have the highest batting average in the league the last time I checked. They have to add Either adam dunn, Alfonso soriano, or matt holliday. It wouldn't hurt to get two of them. What does everyone think of these possiblities and who would we have to give up to get them?

Apparently, you haven't checked too recently because they are at 4. :)

But yeah, I defenitley agree they need to add power. I think Matt Holliday will certainly be available. Mike Francesa was saying today the Mets could trade Jose Reyes to the Red Sox for Ellsbury, and I didnt hear who else he said...but god, that would be terrible.

If we trade reyes I'm going to be very unhappy unless weget pujolsand thats not going to happen. The numbers with reyes in are just insane. We score more runs and play better as a team. He is and has been the key t our success in past years. We need him to be healthy and playing for us and not the redsox.

Pujols becomes a FA in 2010...with a 2011 club option...so in 2012 he becomes a FA.

I wonder how much it will take to sign him?

I think 2011. I doubt the cardinals will allow him to go to free agency because then they would have no shot at signing him. The mets would throw like 400 mill at him. Then you have teams like the Dodgers or the Red Sox... hell even the yankees... 400 million dollar DH lol.

nady is a free agent at years end, swisher has 2 mor eyears. Thats why nady is likely the trade guy, since he'll more than likely be gone at seasons end anyway.

i think that it would be a really dumb idea to get rid of reyes..

but the proposed trade idea was..

Mets Get:
Jacoby Ellsbury
Jed Lowrie
Clay Buchholz
Michael Bowden

Red Sox Get:
Jose Reyes

i think the Mets will definately be buyers though..

I heard that on WEEI that Atkins could be a possibility because they don't know if Lowell can stay healthy. It could be a big reward if he turns it around but I think its a terrible trade. He hasn't done nothing in a hitters park.

I'd like the Sox to go after Rios, but the Jays probably won't trade within the division. And I don't know how you could make room for him unless you have Youk play 3rd and Ortiz 1st. And it could give rest to Ellsbury & Drew...you could rotate the lineup and play the hot hand or someone will go down with an injury
