If I were the general manager of the Memphis Grizzlies, I would pick Hasheem Thabeet.

Hasheem Thabeet

It's not 8pm yet, I had 3 minutes on the last poll :(

But seriously, Rubio's next even if they take him just to trade him to LAC or Sacramento.

What will the Memphis Grizzlies get in return for a young player like Ricky Rubio from Sacramento?

06-21-2009, 08:04 PM
You should have the option to trade the pick

06-21-2009, 08:05 PM

Warrick or Arthur

then the thunder get thabeet...

works out for both teams.

It will not work out for Memphis unless OJ Mayo becomes a point guard.

James Harden is a shooting guard just like OJ Mayo.

Our number 4 pick, or else they can suck a ****

Sorry, I felt like that pick has been locked for a while.

I was thinking about that, but lets just keep it simple.

Thabeet. Safest pick IMO.

I Am Awesome-O

The Grizzlies are taking Rubio, whether they keep him or not. Don't let Chad Fraud or any other media person brainwash you.

06-21-2009, 08:16 PM
Thabeet. Safest pick IMO.

 Safe?

I would think Hasheem Thabeet, but he didnt show up to their workout for him today.

06-21-2009, 08:27 PM
If the Grizz take Thabeet, what do they do with Gasol?

PF (very slow) or trade him (for who though?)?

WARNING: Completely implausible scenario.

Sacramento sends the #4 (Stephen Curry) pick, Jason Thompson and Beno Udrih to Memphis for Rubio and Darko Milicic's expiring contract. Memphis then trades Curry to the Knicks for Wilson Chandler, Jared Jeffries and the #8 pick. The Griz actually pick 8th, and choose Jrue Holiday.

Sacramento gets: Rid of Beno Udrih's contract and gets Ricky Rubio
Memphis gets: Jrue Holiday, Wilson Chandler and Jason Thompson, and Beno Udrih
New York gets: Stephen Curry and frees up 2010 cap space

By absorbing other teams' bad contracts (Udrih, Jeffries) the Grizzlies field a lineup of

PG - Conley/Holiday
SG - Mayo/Chandler
SF - Gay/Warrick
PF - Thompson/Arthur
C - Gasol/Haddadi

Thabeet isn't even top 10 worthy. I just don't see why they would take him at #2. Rubio is great, but they already have Conley, Mayo, and Jaric. They do need a post player, but Fa is a better place for them to grab one. Hill could maybe even start for them at center. I'd take Hill over Thabeet any day.

Ricky Rubio.
Hes the best player available, fills a need, and if he is traded, he'd bring the most in.
I like Thabeet too but the Grizzlies have Marc Gasol. You could argue that they have Mike Conley but he isn't as good as Gasol IMO.

Thabeet. Safest pick IMO.

Thabeet is probably the biggest risk in the draft.

I couldn't agree with you more!

Why would Rubio want to drop his own value at anything less than #2 ,so his handlers should work with us on that level;;;;;;Memphis takes Rubio to trade him on .
My best agreement along those lines is #2 and ???(does not = Gasol,Mayo) for Harris, Carter and possibly have Jaric in it to even out the $$$$$$ contracts.I know the Nets fans want to keep Harris, but Rubio can bring you teenyboppers out in droves!! Plus some nifty ball handling, too.

POSTED: June 22 -- 2:54 a.m. ET

Chad Ford: The NBA has experienced workout mania the past few days, with some of the best workouts of the draft happening as teams bring back their top-rated prospects to battle each other.

Maybe the biggest news is about the workout that didn't happen -- UConn big man Hasheem Thabeet dropped out of a workout scheduled for Sunday with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The official explanation was a sore shoulder. The unofficial explanation? Thabeet doesn't want to play in Memphis and wanted to stay in Los Angeles to talk Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti into drafting him at No. 3.

Why doesn't Thabeet want to play in Memphis? For the same reason that Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry and others have refused workouts. Said one source in explaining the Grizzlies' reputation: "They don't spend any money anymore. They don't have a commitment to put a winning team on the floor right now. It's not where an agent wants to send his star pick."

Rubio and Thabeet have said no to Memphis, and James Harden bombed a workout there, so who are the Grizzlies taking?

I think it's likely they still will take Thabeet.

But I have no idea how Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley is going to react to this latest twist.

How do you do that indented looking article quote thing?
