View Full Version : Can the Jays stay in the race?

With the loss of Roy Halladay for who knows how long, do you think there is any chance that the Blue Jays stay in the race and have a serious shot at winning the AL East?

The Blue Jays team ERA was 4.30 heading into today. Without Halladay, that number should go higer. The Jays offense in my opinion isn't all that great (.270 BA is 4th in the majors though) and they don't have enough power to constanly score runs.

The Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays are all playing better as of late, and the Jays next 6 series are against the Phillies, Nationals, Reds, Phillies, Rays, and the Yankees.

What do you think, do you think the Jays can stay in the race in the AL East?

The Jays have surprised us all this year. It's been nice to see them and the Rays battle it out and fight to win the AL East, but in the end it's Yanks-Sox all the way. Those two teams are the best in the AL, and two of the top three teams in all of baseball. I don't think there's much of a chance the Jays are still gonna be in it once the dog days of summer come around.

Even with Halladay, I don't think the Jays could really compete with the Yankees or the Red Sox. Tampa is starting to get hot as well and of course you have teams like Texas and Detroit who are playing extremely well.

I would have said no even if Halladay didn't go down. Jays have been impressive this year though.

Not unless they apply for a transfer to the AL Central, sadly.

The Jays will never make the playoffs unless MLB wakes up and allows more teams into the playoffs, which probably wouldn't even be considered unless both the Red Sox and Yankees missed the playoffs in consecutive years.

Hopefully Doc only misses one start, but I don't see it happening now that all 5 of our original rotation is injured.
