Mile High Champ

Hey guys, Some of you may remember but I conducted a poll at the start of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please try and vote for the best player and don't be a homer. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round...Enjoy.

In order to save some time, I will already name Paul, Lebron and Kobe as the best at their positions. There aint much reason to vote for the best at PG, SG, SF as we already know what they are.

PG Rankings DONT FORGET TO VOTE!!

1) Chris Paul
2)

Last Years PG rankings:

1) Chris Paul
2) Steve Nash
3) Deron Williams
4) Baron Davis
5) Tony Parker
6) Jason Kidd
7) Chauncey Billups
8) Gilbert Arenas
9) Jose Calderon
10) Andre Miller

Deron Williams, he owns CP3 in head to heads and something tells me he's strong and fast enough to hang in with Chauncey for a playoff series, one I'd really like to see btw.

Sad that the guy with 3 rings, and a finals MVP, who puts up 20 + ppg and 6 + apg not much love.

Deron Williams and it's not really close (Coming from a big Billups fan).

Only a homer would think he's the second best PG in the league. He has an argument for 3rd although I don't support it. 3 rings and a Finals MVP are irrelevant when you look at the teams that he has played on. Duncan, the GOAT PF. Perhaps the best 6th man in the league for a good amount of time. Great all around coach and decent defensive players. And the key fact is that the opposing defenses NEVER focused their game around Parker unless Duncan or Manu were injured. Why do you think he got Finals MVP....Duncan got so much attention, Parker was guarded by a poor defender in Daniel Gibson and he mostly had single coverage on him. And I don't really support his Finals MVP. Duncan was the defensive anchor of that team and the only legit post presence who improved the team greatly with the attention he drew. Parker got it due to his scoring. However, I do think he's the 4th best PG today mainly because he has really improved his scoring and passing. Not a traditional PG but still very effective.

2.Billups
3.Williams
4.Parker
5.Harris

then everyone else....

I really hope Devin Harris gets some votes this year and gets in the top 5. He's a great player.

On topic:

IMO, Billups, his stock rose tremendously once he came to Denver. Because he not only put up some solid numbers, but he did things that can't be recorded in a stat book as well. Such as leadership, he completely turned around the Nuggets team and drove them to the WCF.

Although I like Deron more

Deron, because he worked everyone on that list. I'm not a Jazz fan, but he means as much to that team as Kobe, Lebron, Howard, Wade mean to their team....doesn't Wade play point also now? I would choose Wade for sure.

Deron was injured this year....only reason stats say CP3 was better. D-Will has outplayed CP3 in all Utah/NewOrleans games. Deron Williams > Chris Paul

i voted for ROSE .... hes fast as PARKER ... just as BIG as Chaucey Billups ... he has NBA GAME .... head to head vs any PG he either kept up or Dominated ... Killed Dwill , Killed CP3 , went tit 4 tat wit DHarris , you all seen how Andre Miller went out . As far as im concerned he may be on his way to being #1 in a few years .

How is it that only a homer thinks TP is the 2nd best? You don't think playing with TD and Manu somewhat limits him?? You said it best..he is playing , with the best PF ever, and Manu who can score 20 points any given night. His touches/looks are going to be limited, since the offense doesnt run through him, like it runs through most PG's.

You did see how TP stepped up his game when asked to carry more of the scoring load right? Sure he doesnt get as many assists as the "traditional" PG, but its because of the system he is in. Pop wants him to be a scorer, not so much of a passer off the pick and roll.

15% of everyone who is not a jazz fan thinks D will is better than CP3. 85% of everyone else knows that CP3 is better than D WIll.

All the D Will better than CP3 talk is bull. The jazz are just a BAD BAD matchup for the Hornets...any NBA fan knows that. And YES, their head-to-head games are pretty much even. The jazz just win because bad matchup. Its a game of matchups. But guess what? CP3 tears up every other PG in the league more than D will does, so the edge is blatantly to ur boy CP3..who plays with scrubs and turns them into all-stars...believe that. CP3 does more for his team than anyone in the league. PERIOD.

That's really using a double standard. You first brought up Parker's 3 rings as an argument so he could get more love but now you're stating that Ginobili and Duncan are limiting him. It goes one way or the other. It's true that Ginobili and Duncan limit Parker's scoring abilities since he can't fully run the offense and take as many shots as he could but you have to realize those guys have a huge impact on his efficiency, team success and the way the defense plays him. Parker as a first option would probably put up around 26 PPG but it won't be very efficient (around 43%) and the team wouldn't be very successful.

I'm not knocking on him for NOT being a traditional PG. A scoring PG could be the best PG in the game, it's possible. But, I don't see Parker's impact right now greater than Billups' or Williams' impact. He isn't as good defensively as them or has a complete game like those guys. I realize he can take over games, he just did that a couple of games against the Mavs but I don't see him as a franchise changing PG. Maybe, it's because he never got the chance. He can always prove me wrong, though.

What are you basing your projections on? Besides your both wrong TP gets ALOT of touches. You just have to account for the Spurs slow pace and the low MPG Parker sees.
