But the Lakers are the Team of the decade. Four championships, six finals appearences and a four games to one advantage in head-to-head series.

Much respect to the Spurs. Classy champs and a hell of a team but four is better than three. Spurs fans should and I am sure are proud of their team.

The Lakers started the decade champs and are ending it the same way. Hopefully the next decade starts the same way. Go Lakers.

Spurs have been consistent though. They have been a 50+ win team this decade.

Lakers have higher highs, but also lower lows.

Either way they're both great teams.

C'mon.... we JUST won the title.... lets just enjoy it instead of ripping the VERY VERY respectable Spurs.

I agree but championships speak louder. I don't mean any disrespect towards the Spurs. The Lakers had one bad year and two mediocre years.

Dude lets not get a LITTLE cocky there buddy, the Spurs won it in 98-99. Lakers in 99-2000. So if half the season is the year before then the Spurs have won just as many championships as the Lakers in the same timeframe.

Plus you guys are *******s for ruining Reggie Miller's chance at a championship with Larry Bird. So eff the Lakers =P

I'm sad to see that a Lakers fan make this thread.. Why can't we just enjoy this championship and not dog another team?

Spurs lucked out in '07 when the Mavs choked against the Warriors. They didn't want any part of us. lol jk.

Congrats to you Laker fans on the big win tonight. Glad to see my boy DJ Mbenga got himself a ring.

The 1999-2000 season started with two months in 1999 but the majority was played in 2000. The 1998-1999 season (actually the 1999 season since it started in February of 1999 due to the lockout) counts in the '90's, which the Bulls ruled.

I still don't mean any disrespect to the Spurs but the debate for team of the decade is between them and the Lakers and no one else. If the Lakers wouldn't have won it this year then the Spurs are considered the team of the decade to me even though the Lakers would still have an argument.

Since they did win it the Lakers are. They appeared in three more Finals and maybe more importantly won four of the five times they met in the playoffs head-to-head. I waited until the play-offs were over before posting this topic. I've even argued with two different Spurs fans about this. One said I was crazy and the other agreed with me.

4>3 for championships

6>3 for Finals appearences

4>1 for head-to-head playoff match-ups

The Spurs do lead in overall playoff appearences for the decade 10-9.

Lakers kept my sixers from winning a championship in my lifetime so far......u gave me hope by giving us game 1 in LA and your first loss that postseason. But then you became cocky SOB itches and won the next 4.

Sixers in 09-10......If it happens you heard it here first :p

Who's dogging another team? The Spurs had great success this decade and have three championships to crow about because of it. I'm celebrating the Lakers success and annointing them the team of the decade while very much enjoying this newest championship. You toe the line and don't upset anyone and enjoy yourself while not ever upsetting anyone and have fun with that. The only thing that I regret is titling this thread Sorry San Antonio because in retrospect I can see it as me giving Spurs fans a slap in the face when I don't mean that whatsoever. Poor choice in title but other than that I think it holds up.

Sorry but consistency counts, and the Spurs have been in the playoffs every year this decade, the Lakers haven't. I'd give it to the Spurs.

(Plus, technically 2000 was in the last decade, not this decade. Decades start on the "1", and end on the "10". So 1981-1990, 1991-2000, 2001-2010)

Gratz to Kobe, who's out from Shaq's shadow.

I know, that;s why I said you're dogging them by your title. Maybe a Mod can change your title for you or merge it into the on-going debate thread -> http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372492

Yea I'll give you the fact that the Lakers did make it two more times to the Championship. That impressive. Crazy though the year you tried to play Yankees (Malone, Payton, Shaq, and Kobe) what happened? What happens when you put 4 guys on a team that AVG 22 points a game... Still, the Lakers are the team of the decade I would say.
