Every team deserved a championship at least once in their franchise.

Even if it was just a finals appearance

The Clippers and it is not even close.

Their fans have had to endure years and years of being #2 to the Lakers. The Clippers are just an afterthought. They can never get LA's spotlight focused on them no matter how good they are. It's all about the Lakers in that city.

Not to mention their Coach/GM is Mike Dunleavy ... :puke:

The one Western Conference team I think deserves a championship is the Utah Jazz. With one of the greatest coaches in history with Jerry Sloan, he has been to the finals a few times in the '90s with the model players of Karl Malone, John Stockon, Jeff Hornacek, Byron Russell, and Greg Ostertag and now they have the new fresher version with Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Andrei Kirilenko, Paull Millsap, and Mehmet Okur.

The one Eastern Conference team I think deserves a championship is the Charlotte Bobcats. I would love to see Michael Jordan and Larry Brown bring this young improving team to the title and have MJ add a championship ring as part of the front office instead as a player

Thank you fellow warriors fan. =):clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: we deserve it the most. we actually have real fans unlike many other teams like celtics and lakers. we care about our team. so here is my list of teams that deserve championships.

1. Golden State Warriors
2. Denver Nuggets
3. Portland Trailblazers
4. New York Knicks
5. Minnesota T-wolves
6. Phoenix Suns
7. Philadelphia 76ers
8. Washington Wizards

IMO, this poll doesnt really do much. Anyone would only vote for their team and not consider anything else.

To me, the city that needs it most is Cleveland, after not having one for 46 years. But the team vote would go to the Knicks, because of their storied history and struggles they have been going through for years now.

All homerism aside... how do the Raptors deserve a championship?

they've been around for like 14yrs? I think they should start with a conference title before anyone starts thinking about a championship

not hating on them just wondering the logic behind them being more deserving than some of the other more tenured teams in the league

fnoel
06-17-2009, 10:10 PM
The question asks what franchise or city do you think deserves a championship? So the logical answer would be the best team deserves it so I chose the Lakers. Now if it asked what team that has never won a championship would you want to see win one I would have to pick the Jazz.

Its a poll, everyone has their personal choice. Theres no logic, we all have our own opinions.

Obviously, everyone will choose their favourite teams no matter if they deserve it or not.

Yes, I do feel bad for NY Fans as their team has struggled since the Ewing days. Just because a team has more votes in a poll on a forum, it still doesnt mean anything...

The Utah Jazz - they always compete and always go to the playoffs. They never overspend and they have the classiest coach in the NBA. They are a small market, and are the only pro franchise in the state. They have very loyal fans, always support the team and they fill the seats. You might dislike the Jazz, but they are a team that deserves respect. A class organization who deserves a title.

2nd on my list are the Pacers. They have a good history and have always been competitive. They come from basketball country there in Indiana...

It's not about deserving, it's about earning. Sure there are other teams that have been historically close, and must feel heart broken (Utah, I'm looking at you) and any team that doesn't have one must really want it. But a Championship is earned, not given.

That being said I think the Lakers "deserve" to win it again next year. They built a great team, with young talent. Sure we had the Gasol steal, but at least it wasn't insider trading like the Garnett deal. And how does no one talk about how the Celtics gave up everything to build a one year team of guys all desperate to validate their careers with a ring. Anyway, it's about drafting, trading, and hard work. And the Laker's have excelled in all those areas, so if anyone deserves it, it's LA.

(I also think Portland's GM is working hard to make sure that they "deserve" a banner in the near future).

Hilarious. The Lakers didn't earn half the foul shots they shot this postseason. They didn't deserve Pau Gasol. Don't get me started about LA. The fact that Gasol can go through the last two series and never get in foul trouble is a joke. Yet on the other end, he's going to the line for flopping his head, yelling and making faces. Kobe is pretty hard, but he gets to line for no fouls often too.

The Jazz are all class. Sure we play hard and play old school tough basketball, but it's still shaking hands at the end of the day. As much as the refs suck against small market Utah, Sloan still won't acknowledge it postgame. Other than Boozer, Utah doesn't get big free agents due to reverse racism. Utah deserves the breaks it takes to win a title such as a Pau Gasol trade, as many FT's as the other team, or one free agent to buck the anti-Utah trend. Utah's late 90's teams were the best to never win the title. They ran into MJ and Phil and a stiff arm, but that's another story.

I consider this thread to be for teams who haven't won a title yet. Of those, Utah has the best resume/reasons. Of course I'm a Jazz fan, but how do they not qualify:

Always in the playoffs
Never causing trouble for the league
Small Market
Fills their arena and has great fans
Never pay the luxury tax
Win games although it's a hard place to lure free agents so they have to draft and trade well

I personally only think my team should a championship (I'm feeding into the NY stereotype purposely here), but I think all NBA players who play the game the right way every night, like my old Knicks teams from the 90's, deserve to win a championship. The recent Knick teams barely deserve the jerseys on their backs let alone a championship.

Infact every city at the moment, except Cleveland (b/c they acted like they had a dynasty going on already this past season), deserve a championship.

I would love to see Jerry Sloan get one, not so much Utah, but who wouldn't want to see Jerry go nuts in a champaign bath.

Not stuck up at all, just being honest. Why should I feel that a team that can't put together a winning team should "deserve" to win it all. Either you have what it takes to win, or you don't. You're a Suns fan, of course you're bitter and think you deserve to win. If your owner/gm made better moves you would have been in a better position to "deserve" to win.

The Jazz should have won in the 90's, they just ran up against the GOAT in his prime. Aside from those good years in the 90's, the Jazz are just playoff contenders, not favorites. Just because they might make it to the playoffs often doesn't mean they deserve anything.

Yes but the thread is asking what franchise deserves to win.
Barkley's Suns, Sloan's Jazz, Ewing's Knicks deserved to win something. Doesn't mean they didn't deserve to win. It was bad timing.
Just because there are bad breaks and the stars didn't align, doesn't mean they didn't deserve a ring.

Now if we're talking, right now, what team deserves to win, then the only answer can be LA, because they were the last one standing and it certainly validates your point.
I think this thread is being taken a bit too seriously (not picking on you, just overall).
