LeBron James was playing with a health issue through the end of the season and the playoffs that has now been taken care of.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star underwent successful surgery on Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic to remove a benign growth in his mouth, the team said. Specifically, Dr. Frank Papay removed the growth from James' parotid gland, which produces saliva, in a five-hour procedure, sources close to the situation told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

LeBron and his family have been aware of this medical issue for several months but, with the clearance of the treating doctors and medical staff, decided to wait until the conclusion of the Cavaliers season to undergo the procedure.

LeBron is recovering comfortably at the Cleveland Clinic and will soon be returning home.

The team said that doctors were pleased with the outcome of the procedure, and at this time, are confident that no further treatment will be needed. James is expected to make a full and complete recovery.

i meant specifically more of the "new" part, not the same damn thread seven times in one night.

one thread about the best player in the NBA having surgery? not so bad.
now if there are four threads coming soon asking "did not having the minor surgery affect his play" and "maybe he was worried about his health" and "is the gland going to sign with the brooklyn surgeons in 2010" then yes, we will need to stop this madness.

the thread title is definitely misleading though. it's a pretty non-serious surgery.

Now this will be the reason the Cavs didn't win...Lebron had a growth in his mouth!!!! It hindered his playing ability...It would have the same effect of maybe an ingrown hair, or a cavity

Yeah, this is pretty much, LeBron went to the Dentist, less discuss.

When did the NBA forum become the Cavs full time forum?

Last time I checked they have been eliminated and are not relevant anymore

Only 2 teams: the Magic and Lakers as well as the draft need to be discussed.

Move on already and enjoy the fishing trip and summer vacation Cleveland

Chances are that growth prevented him from congratulating the Magic after they won

They were probably removing the parts that were abnormally growing because of taking steroids. Double check with Wade too, they both have over grown jaw/check bones that weren't like that before when they entered the league. The league won't fine/suspend them, because the NBA makes so much money off of marketing Wade and Lebron, it's disgusting. So the league let's them be this artificially great.

Word is the mouth surgery is just a cover up for what David Stern had the doctors really do. From a ESPN insider Rich Bucher reports Stern had the doctors implant and chip that would give the NBA front office full control over Lebron's every move physically and mentally. Stern was quoted saying "The latest series of puppet commercials really got us thinking, so we decided in the best interest of fans and the NBA that it would be a great idea to turn Mr.James into a real puppet so that we could have full control of him." Stern also said this will guarantee HIGH TV ratings b/c now they can make sure James gets to the finals since the refs will now know how to better coordinate games as they too have chips in their brain and are also controlled by the front office.

Hahahaha....

I hope nobody applies the "warrior" tag to Lebron for playing through an injury. Antonio Cromartie played through a broken hip. A benign tumor in the mouth shouldn't qualify.

This surgery was to remove a benign growth in his mouth people, it wasn't a life or death surgery. It was a successful 5-hour surgery and he is currently recovering back home and is expected to make a full recover.

Lebron and his family have known about this growth for a month or so but he was cleared by Cavs staff doctors and Cleveland Clinic doctors.

Of course, this will strike up a huge ordeal on ESPN but it seriously is not a big deal. It is something that needed to be taken care of before it became a serious health risk.
