Jordan tipped as possible buyer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After losing tens of millions of dollars, the first black majority owner of a major professional sports team is exploring selling the Charlotte Bobcats.

Bob Johnson's decision could pave the way for minority investor Michael Jordan to take control of the team -- if he's willing to meet Johnson's price.

The NBA confirmed Friday that Johnson is using a New York-based sports financial services firm to seek additional investors. Jordan said in February that he'd be interested in someday getting majority control of the team.

Johnson and Jordan did not immediately respond to requests for interviews on Friday through team spokesmen.

The Charlotte Observer first reported Thursday that Johnson is using Galatioto Sports Partners to help with a potential sale. The firm, which Johnson used to assemble his initial group of minority investors, includes former NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik.

thank god maybe we wont have another racist owner who wont hire white people to work at the arena...Bob Johnson is why I hate Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, NAACP and every other race group because it only stirs the pot instead of helping the situation.

Someone from Montreal should buy the Bobcats and move them there.
If the Vancouver Cunucks owner can buy the Pacers the new division alignments can look like this:

Atlantic
Boston Celtics
Philadelphia 76ers
New York Knicks
New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets
Montreal

Central
Detroit Pistons
Milwaukee Bucks
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Toronto Raptors

South East
Washington Wizards
Orlando Magic
Miami Heat
Atlanta Hawks
Memphis Grizzlies

North West
Minnesota T-Wolves
Utah Jazz
Denver Nuggets
Portland Trail Blazers
Vancouver

Pacific
LA Lakers
LA Clippers
Sacramento Kings
Golden State Warriors
Phoenix Suns

South West
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
San Antonio Spurs
New Orleans Hornets
Okalahoma City Thunder

That is the worst idea I have ever heard in my life! We want a new owner but we have already lost one team and don't plan on losing another one!

There is pretty much a zero percent chance the team would be moved upon it's sale. The new owner will already have to pony up between $275-$325 million dollars to buy the team. If they then wanted to move the team they would have to pony up close to $250 million more to get out of the arena deal. It's highly unlikely that an owner would want to invest $500-$600 million in the Bobcats...
