Here is your chance to be able to say "I told you so"... Who do YOU think will win the draft lottery. AND who will the second and third place teams be?

My guess:

1)Clippers- Blake goes to LA.
2)Knicks- Do they go for Thabeet?
3)Kings- Either Rubio or Jennings.

I just don't understand why the Knicks did so well this year! They want to attract LeBron next year (Bleh, hate him)...so they should have tanked THIS year and gotten a high pick and then "improved" next year, to show Lebron how NY can contend. Oh well.

I voted for the Knicks, but that's because I'm a Knicks fan and always want them to win it :). Personally, I think Oklahoma wins it. Their core is sick. Durant will be a superstar. Green seems like the Josh Howard/Rashard Lewis type: perfect as the #2 player. Westbrook seems like a star (meaning, he'll be better than Green, putting green as the Sonic's #3 isntead). Now just imagine another big man. Wow. PG, SG, SF, and PF would be filled with incredible, young, and cheap talent. They'd only have to spend money on the bench and save money to resign Durant and then Westbrook.

Realistically, the Griffin isn't even the best fit on NY. I would think they would need someone like Thabeet or DeRozan.

I'm a Kings fan and if we don't get Griffin, I won't be too upset because we really need a PG and there still would be a great chance we would get Rubio or Jennings.

Just out of curiosity, who does everyone think is the best fit for their team (excluding Griffin)?

I want the wolves to get the #1 pick. Big Al is my favorite non-celtic player.

I want Griffen because it makes Lee more expendable. Could Possibly trade Lee to a team for a PG or a draft pick next year since we don't have one in 2010.

Rubio would be the next best thing and I'm hoping we get into the Top 2.

Either way Knicks deserve some luck and hopefully the ping pong balls fall in our favor since we don't have a pick in 2010, and after 2010 we don't expect to be in the lottery for a long time.

Jay22Redd
05-19-2009, 12:04 PM

One of two things are going to happen:

1) Oklahoma City will win the lottery so that Oklahoma Sooner Blake Griffin can stay in-state! or.....

2) The NBA wants the NY Knicks to have some kind of value again, and they win the lottery (yes folks, there is no doubt in my mind that the lottery is rigged in some way if the situation warrants it-- Cleveland winning the year LeBron enters the draft; Chicago, with a 1.7% chance, winning the lottery when Chicago-native Derrick Rose enters the draft; the Spurs winning the lottery after their down year and getting Tim Duncan) and take Blake Griffin to get people excited at the Garden.

Lions #81

ok heres whats going to happen. it is a little out there but bear with me.

I'd love to see Oklahoma City get it. Or if they can trade a high pick for a all star big man.

I'd also like to see someone in the East get it. If the East can become as deep as the Western conference, that would be good for the league.

And of course, the Wizards getting it wouldnt hurt. :)

The Thunder would be a better team with Thabeet. The team has undersized/oversized players at the 3-4-5 position. Griffin would be a nice addition, but the team needs more defensive focus.

They should just do the lottery IN PUBLIC, the end all speculation of "rigging" it. I don't understand why it has to be done behind closed doors.

Giaps

So anytime NY moves up it must be rigged right? Don't you think the NBA had the perfect chance to "rig" it last year when they had the 5th overall spot? The Bulls did not need the help as bad as the Knicks did. Face it, the lottery is "un-riggable". Just read about what the NBA does in prep. for it. It's watched by every rep from every team.

Why do most people think the Knicks will win the lottery? The Knicks only have a 2.8% chance of winning the lottery.

If the NBA wanted the Knicks to win, the Knicks would have gotten a top 3 pick last year. And the NBA isn't flawed, there are rules and all representatives watch the process.

PS- Anyone remember that Kings fan from last year? Man was she annoying.

FarOutIos
05-19-2009, 05:04 PM
Griffin to OKC would be nice, but they would be become a future powerhouse... and they would be overloaded at the forward position. I would rather see them make a trade for Griffin.

I still think Thabeet or DeRozan would be good fits for NYK.

Rubio to PHO would be crazy... a passing of the torch.

I think the biggest draft questions are where Thabeet, Hill and Clark go at the top of the draft. There really isn't much big talent at the top of the draft and filling needs could be difficult for some of the lottery teams.

Does anyone else think this could be the most important night of the offseason possibly for a couple of these teams?

Cause when I look at it there are atleast 5 teams in the lottery that could easily be playoff teams next year with blake griffin added to their team. The Wizards roster is MUCH better than their record indicated this year as is the Clippers and Raptors. Then look at how great the Thunder could be with their young nucleus with Griffin added to it. The Bobcats as well will have a very good and young nucleus who could easily make the playoffs as well. All of these teams could be playoff teams without Griffin next year and adding Griffin I think could make their chances even better.

What do you guys think?

The T-Wolves need a star NOW! If we get Griffin or Rubio that will be nice. Imagine Big Al and Griffin with Love coming off the bench VACUUMING rebounds all day.

I will do a backflip if you're right!!! Although if the clippers get first or second pick, they need to make a trade. If we get first, we either need to trade the pick or one of our big men. Kaman, Camby, Randolph, DeAndre, and Griffin is overload. Likewise if we get the second pick, making some sort of trade is going to be necessary. Baron Davis, Mike Taylor and Ricky Rubio is pointgaurd overload. Honestly, my ideal scenario would be getting first pick and trading Griffin, Camby, and maybe Al Thornton for someone Ballin. Like a Danny Granger. Not likely I know, but that'd be amazing.

Ok. So, since the past 20 years the draft LOTTERY has changed drastically. This year looked so different.

What makes it so suspicious is that why did they have a seperate room to actually have the lottery, where the balls drop, and why were they in closed doors?

Couldnt they have shown us the ball toss, and how could they make those combinations so fast in literally a 5 minute commercial break? They have to pick the balls and then look to see the code..and doing that 14 times must take more than 5 minutes, especially if there is like 2 people in the CLOSED ROOM.

I dont know, but it looks suspicious to me.

Is David Stern doing this on purpose, or is it really a legit draft?
What really happened in those closed doors, we will never know, but I think their method this year was horrible.

REMEMBER THE 1985 DRAFT? I doubt it. Watch it carefully and take a second guess on your doubts for Stern's Draft Lottery, hmmm ( READ THE DESCRIPTION ON THE SIDE AS THE DUDE WHO MADE THE VIDEO POINTS OUT CERTAIN THINGS WHICH STUNNED NY FANS TO GET EWING): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mN3OGRGybA
