I agree with Nash though. Also, Battier, Pau Gasol.

It's funny how people think that ONE thing he did in his TWELVE year career makes him a goon.

Rosh, grow up. His team was down big, getting mocked. He got thrown to the floor and instantly swung an elbow at whatever did it. He was frustrated, he vented. It hit Varejao's groin. Oh buh huh.

He's been a classy player since his rookie year, and that's who he is. Stop trying to label a player for one accident.

honestly to even judge this is pretty hard, you wouldve had to have met most NBA players, just cause they act cool and nice on TV doesnt mean they are in real life, for all we know most of them are *******s, just cause they mightve donated 10k out of there 10 million salary doesnt make them a saint, if i made 10 million a year i would at least donate 500k/year to charities and good organizations

Grow up? I posted a link. If you're down big, you take it. Being classy doesn't stop when you decide to hit someone in the nuts. Vented by hitting Varejao's groin? Seems like Allen's the one that needs to grow up.

I agree with the poster that the 'KG-Tactics' have rubbed off that Celtics team.

Battier and Duncan are pretty solid picks.

It's one thing if Ray did it at the beginning of his career, and obviously he's grown up and matured since.

But getting towards the end of his career, he shouldn't be doing that. He is one of the players that young players look up to and try to model.

But in honesty, I bet nobody regrets it more than him, and over time it will be mostly forgotten.

Shane Battier is not only one of the classiest players in the NBA, he's also one of the most under appreciated.

Anybody that has watched him in the Lakers series has to like him at least a little bit more. Watching him play pretty solid D, still get torched by Kobe, listen to Kobe taunt him all night and put his head down and run back down the court was pretty respectable. I've never seen him trash talk, and the only time I've seen him really get animated was when he got clocked in game 1 and tried to show the refs that he was bleeding.

Team guy, always very humble and seems very down to earth.

He gets my vote.

I believe it's Battier. List of other good choices: Mutombo, Roy, I'm assmuming Nash from what I've read from your posts, Joe Johnson, Antawn Jamison, Yao, Duncan, Billups, and Dirk. I wouldn't put Rose in the classy catergory, yet, for now I'd put him under humble.

In my opinion, I've never thought of Ray Allen to have been classy. He has a solid demeanor and seems like a prick, to me. Seems like a smart*** and he always seems unhappy and dry. That isn't classy.

Eh, I don't know about Rose just yet. He's more just quiet and humble. Nothing suggesting classiness either way.

It kind of depends on your views on what qualifies as classy. To me a classy player is someone that isn't taunting other players, is humble, conducts himself in a high manner, and shows respect to other players/media members/coaches.

And for the record, my list was not intended to be in any specific order. I'd definitely say Battier is probably the classiest guy.

Exactly, I mean I love his playing style and I think he is a great player but the guy had stomach problems from eating too many gummy worms or something. That isn't too classy. He is a good kid but doesn't show class, yet.

Wait, what? He isn't classy because he got a stomach ache from eating gummi bears? And doesn't show class yet? Age has nothing to do with class. I mean, I can kind of agree that he might be more shy and quiet than classy, but I don't really understand what you're saying there.

I've never heard Battier make a snide, rude, cynical, or tasteless comment about anyone. A lot of players consciously work hard to keep up a good public image, but Battier's case it's just the way he genuinely is.

Nice Call! i agree antawn is an elite class act in this league...he has been since he came outta college. he is never talkin, probably is one of the most underated players in the league. i hate the wizards bein an orlando fan but its fun to see antawn play cuz i'm also a UNC fan!

I'd have to go with Chris "Birdman" Anderson but what I'd really like to know is who is the most chivalrous?

Even though he's retired, no one will ever touch the legendary A.C. Green.

giving a bentley and a benz to your mother is IMO, not being classy, just nice.
he can afford that. giving money to a chirity that has nothing to do with himself is classy. his mother have birth to him, he should give her money and stuff if he could...

VC is a guy that in toronto faked injuries, or didnt play through small injuries, just not to play for the raps. is that classy?

CP3 and his occasional temper tantrums? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F3tptzEWmM pretty classy

Calderon & Gasol? What about that pic the Spain National basketball team photo before the 2008 summer games, was that classy?

Can't really argue with the rest of that list

CP3 - ok, but I've also heard him say some really classy things and they weren't just words. The guy seems to have a lot of heart.

Calderon and Gasol - no question that was bad. But otherwise I've never seen them do anything even remotely like that. In fact, a lot of people seem to wish they were less classy and more aggressive, especially Calderon.

That guy is unbelievably classy in the way he handles himself with the Raptors, with the public, and with his dedication to his team.

i mean, i don't want to get too into this argument, because it's completely deviant from the actual question.
what i will say is that the toronto front office during carter's tenure was probably the least skilled basketball FO in the league at the time.
imo it's not classy to be silent during a bad situation.

but again.
another argument.

Are you saying that Varejao's crotch knocked Ray Allen down? That seems unlikely.

theres waayy too many class players, all the roles player and sum superstars. But OBVIOUSLY ITS GOTTA BE KEVIN GARNETT. The Classiest Player of all time = Kevin Garnett. He just has so much respect for smaller guards.

Might sound homerish but Its legitimate it would have to be 3 Houston Rockets

Shane Battier: There's no one else that can take the cheapshots, beatdowns, taunting and arrogance of a certain lakers player better then him

Yao Ming: He always credits the team for his success and always watches the teams back. He makes everyone important to his success.

Dikembe Mutombo: Especially off the court with all the money he donates to charity.

Are you saying that Varejao's crotch knocked Ray Allen down? That seems unlikely.

These arguments really piss me off.

Watch the video, you can clearly see Varejao taking him down. Maybe it's not a blatant push or takedown, but you can see he locked him and threw him down. No, his crotch didn't do it. Apparently, you need some explanation, for you couldn't understand the scene.

Ray was thrown to the ground, he was hot, he swung an elbow. That elbow hit Varejao's crotch. Oh well, so what? If this happened was he was in Seattle, NO ONE would remember this incident. But they're the world champions. They have that monster KG. Oh, wow, they're so mean and boring.

Please.

Let's cut down the hate and look at the facts. Ray has been in this league for so many years. Name 5 things close to this that he did. You can't. If I was the only one saying this, it would be ok. But anyone respectable in these forums, able to tone down the hate, and let the facts speak for themselves would agree with me. Analysts, commentators, teammates. They all say he's a great dude. Why would they all lie...

paul pierce, ray allen i no for sure from watching the c's; pierce is extremely classy always says the right things, when he makes a big shot just runs back on defense with maybe a little fist pump, rarely seen talking to refs, is a good leader and a good guy(yes i have met him) and handles the media well, even went on a local sports show as one of the guys asking the questions(not an analyst) and was pretty good. the c's overall have a very classy team, one of the things they were lucky with that they could put three stars together and have them all buy in to the team defense, ball movement and stuff.

as for other guys that i dont see as much, the ones i would say are duncan, howard(before his calling out the coach), nash...
