REGULAR SEASON SERIES
Celtics won season series 2-1
Oct. 31: at Celtics 96, Bulls 80
Dec. 19: at Celtics 126, Bulls 108
Mar. 17: at Bulls 127, Celtics 121

Game 7 Sat. May 2, Chicago @ Boston, 8:00 PM EST TNT (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2009050202)

Between the jaw-dropping individual displays, crisp team play and dramatic twists, it’s only fitting that this thrilling first-round series between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls comes to a seventh game.

And what a way to get there.

The Bulls prevailed 128-127 in triple overtime on Thursday to tie the series at three games and send it back to Boston for the finale on Saturday night, with the winner advancing to play Orlando.

“If I had to just sit back and I wasn’t a player and think about these games, this is great for the fans,” Boston’s Paul Pierce said. “Everybody is getting their money’s worth.”

And the defending champions are certainly getting a run for theirs.

A league record four games have gone to overtime, with another decided in the closing seconds of regulation, but somehow, these teams managed to trump all that on Thursday.

It would be like Lakers vs Kings where LA won games 1 and 7 on the road.

In fact this series is just like it. Game 1 Bulls won, Game 2 Celtics won, Game 3 was pretty much a blowout in both. Game 4 was a close and went down to the wire in both. Game 5 went down to the wire. Game 6 went down to the wire and now we have game 7.

ugh awful memory. all i remember is one shot. Stephen Jackson shot a 3 that hit the back rim and then bouned like 5 feet straight up. hit the back rim again and bounced. from that point on we were screwed. lost in a disaster.

my comments are partly confident and partly get pumped type of thing. like reasuring our fans we will win this game. obviously i cant predict the future, but im hoping for Celtics blow out win. sick of OTs. i hate the word overtime.

Any Bulls or Celtics fan who is confident that their respective team will win game 7 needs to have their head checked. This series is so incredibly unpredictable and evenly matched any confidence that one team will beat the other is just dumb.

This series is becoming one of my favorite series to watch of all time you can say, of course not mentioning any Knicks series like in 1999 which is my favorite. It has really been a showcase of talents. Derrick Rose, and Noah have impressed me a lot, Rondo of course as well. BG7 is playing great too. Well eveyone is playing great, even Big baby! Ugh, a lot of people have been saying this. I don't think a first round series could be the best playoff series "ever," especially if Garnett isn't even playing. I may concede, however, that this is the most evenly matched series ever.

Anyway, I'm going with the Celtics on this one. Home crowd on a game 7.. I won't doubt Chicago, but I think Boston's experience and home court will really come into play for this one.

Why? Because a non-100% Garnett on the court is somehow better than Perkins or Big Baby who have been playing out of their minds this series? It would be incredibly dumb to bring him back for this game unless he is 100% which he clearly is not. It's such a predictable lame story if he comes in the game. I welcome it personally.

I don't see this game concluding with any less than 5 OT's and a last second game winning shot from half court. It's pretty obvious.

Also, I wouldn't be that surprised if KG suited up and got announced just to REALLY make the garden explode and add even more fire to the C's. If he just plays 5-10 mins and provides a HUGE emotional lift it could be devastating. I mean imagine...KG was supposed to be out for the whole playoffs, if he came out in game 7 for this epic series, the second his name gets announced that building might literally collapse on itself. The C's are fired up big time, rest assured, I really don't want any more fuel added to their fire.

Let's go Bulls. Like the Celtics have said, the toughest team with the most heart will win the game.

I felt the same thing about Pierce towards the end. He looked exsauhsted chasing down Noah. And when your tired you dont think right. And on the turnover he made 2 mistakes. First of all you bounce that pass and it gets there. Second of all what was Scal gonna do with the ball anyway. He was spotting up for a 3 like he was wearing a 20 on his chest..lol. Pierce is no spring chicken but you can bet he will be ready to go Saturday. Who knows what KG is gonna do. He is a total nut job, anything is possible. I dont think they need him for this game. Ray is on fire and that usualy sticks around for a few games. With Pierce having to fight through double and triple screens all night Ray will have the green light again. Look for him to drop 40 and the Celts win 92-88.

The 3-3 in this series vs the Hawks-Heat series can't be more different.

In this series, all games are so close (obviously an understatement) while all six games of the latter are ended with double-digit difference.

The above seems to suggest Hawks and Heat are more "unstable" team when compared with Celtics and Bulls, which can play almost at the same level in each single game, or the latter pair are more willing & capable to fight from behind. Both Celtics and Bulls have made some great runs in the games.

Bulls by 7.
No reason in particular. They have come close to winning almost every single game in Boston, so I doubt they will be intimidated by the moment or anything like that.
I think the Bulls have a lot of confidence and feel like they have nothing to lose. They are playing the defending champs. If they lose, oh well, great series for them and they can come back next year even better.
If the Celtics lose, then mostly everyone in and around the organization will feel disappointed. Their stars are aging (aside from Rondo) and KG's future is still in doubt. They should do better than lose in the 1st round IMO, even if they don't have KG.

BTW, now that I have picked the Bulls to win, that almost positively means that they will not win.

I have celtic gear older then you. Im just smart enough not to expect a championship from horrible teams. The losses that bothered me most that year were the ones they were accused of losing on purpose for a better chance in the lottery. You know nothing about me and would probably pass out if you were exposed to my passion for the Celtics and basketball in general for too long a period of time. Boston looked exhausted at the end of last game, especially Pierce who couldnt even out run Noah...

I would like to see how much Ray Allen has in this game as well as he played a ton of minutes last game.

As for the Bulls, they are all very young and Hinrich missed a huge portion of the games so he probably has the freshest legs on the court.

The celtics are home so unfortunately I think their fans will get them through another nail biter. I do understand that the Bulls have taken a game in Boston already but it wasn't a game 7. I don't think it will be anything like last year where Boston just completely obliterated Atlanta. Hopefully I'm wrong and Chicago can pull this one out and it would be great if they win it in another overtime or 2 or 15. :p
