View Full Version : Has T-Mac finally gotten out of the 1st round?

Now the reason I ask this cause the Rockets just advanced to the 2nd round. Now do we count this win as T-Mac finally getting out of the 1st round despite the fact that he didnt play hes still on the roster and was on the bench watching from the sidelines or does he have to play to prove he can get out of the 1st round while playing? thoughts

Nope! His team did.. includein Yao  he didn't play 1 minute, so the monkey is still on his back.. he should be traded this offseason, if he don't.. maybe he would use this as motivation to have a lil more heart and tuffness so we could get to the championship

No. Not in any meaningful sense. His game logs will read "MIN - 0", and the court of public opinion has already judged that "Houston got out of the first round without T-Mac". That's how it will be remembered, and the "never got out of the first round" label will continue to stick to him unless he actually does it on the court, playing in the games.

No way, if T-Mac was playing, the Rockets would not be playing as a team.

Looks like everyone lost that first round tag this year EXCEPT TMAC!...and Marbury  He didn't play...he had no contribution towards his team getting out of the first round. He keeps the tag and Jamal Crawford keeps his tag of never making the playoffs.

i say yes because if tmac didnt play at all then the rockets would have devloped good chemistry earlier and finished with a better record possibly losing to a team like dallas or utah... so in a way he helped them get out of the first round... hahahaha what a pathetic loser!

LMAO, you must really be pissed at TMac over the years in Houston! Can't really blame you though, the guy has done nothing to make the team any more relevant than they were back when a young Steve Francis and Yao got to the first round of the POs.

I used to love tmac to death. I have 2 jerseys of him. However, i'm a rockets fan and not a tmac fan first. So when he through us under the bus all this season, I got really pissed and realized he wasn't the leader I thought he was!

As much as I hate to say it...a Manu for T-Mac trader could actually make sense for both teams. Manu will be united by Argentine buddy Scola...and his championship accolades could put the Rockets over the top.

Meanwhile T-Mac will be playing with veteran core with no pressure to be 'the guy' as the third option behind Duncan and Parker. Still I hate to say this seeing how Manu is my favorite player in the league...but the trade would make sense.

Rockets don't need another injury prone player to bust our chances! I want a machine, an ironman ala Ben Gordon!

Testaverde16

he really hasn't... people will always say, "well his team made it to the 2nd round one year, but he missed most of the season and all of the playoffs."

{}
05-01-2009, 08:14 AM
Hell no. The media got this right immediately after he declared himself finished for the season. They pointed out how he wouldn't be getting out of the first round yet again due to his injury. A playoff series victory has to be earned, the Diva isn't entitled to one simply because his hero worshipping small minority of fans are embarrassed for him and his legacy of losing.

Tracy McGrady after learning that the Rockets have advanced:

atl_braves_fan
05-01-2009, 10:56 AM
Saying the TEAM won, but McGrady didn't is a little inconsistent with saying that HE has never gotten out of the first round. Bottom line is, it is a team game -- you win as a team and you lose as a team.

If the question is whether I think this does anything to boost McGrady's legacy, I say no. However, I don't think that losing in the playoffs to a better team should hurt his legacy either.

I thought T-Mac did get out of the first round in Orlando??? Oh, wait, that was him thinking he got out after leading the Pistons three games to none and then losing the next four lol. No, he as a player still has not gotten out of the first round but a team he has been on has.

IBleedPurple
05-01-2009, 11:09 AM
Sorry T-Mac, but your team may have advanced because you were out. I think eveyone stepped up a little more, and he wasn't the focal point on offense. With his game being limited to mostly jump shots, it strangles the Houston offense. They are playing pretty good as of right now. We'll see about next series. Anyway, my answer is definitely no. A poll would've been nice.

The only reason he will be on the bench at all during the next series is not to support "his teammates" but because it'll be against the Lakers and you know there will be a lot of ppl watching. He wants to see and be seen thats all. My wish is for Mclady to somehow get moved to the Lakers so he can destroy what chemistry that team has. He is still a first round virgin.

couldn't agree more. Tmac fan boys likes to use the "oh but he's injured" excuse..please. Mutombo's injured his knee but he was at the game the very next day...in fact, he went to every single game. as ur hate continues mutombo doesnt need to rehab do u know why well ill tell u anyway he hasnt had surgery cause he is never playing again, and tmac is rehabing and he made it to the other two home games.

as 4 the thread no he has not gotten out the 1st rd, but to say with this team he still wouldnt have gotton out is ridiculous, as i say again this is the best team hes been on by far, right now i dont feel like explaing why cuzz i have multiple times but its impossible to change the hate

if houston wins the championship he gets a ring so basically that puts him far passed the first round. theres an asterick by his name now i guess its like when a player is voted to an all-star game but doesn't play because of an injury.

 He has to be playing in the 1st round for him to be officially out of the first round. It is as simple as that. If he didn't play 1 minute in the first round, then no, he doesn't get out of the first round. His team did a better job without him in the lineup.

I would'nt exactly call him choker because after all he does have one of the top ppg in the playoffs. He just doesnt help his team in the way that he should in any given series. It takes a bit more than scoring, you have to know when to get your team going and when to take over and he has been trying to put it all on his shoulders.
