i dunno about beasley on first team over love and gordon though

LayZbone
04-30-2009, 02:39 PM
Wow. I didn't expect that at all. I thought Beasley on the 1st and Chalmers on the 2nd would be the best case scenario, but not the realistic one.

Kevin Love got shafted, again.

superkegger
04-30-2009, 02:40 PM
Maybe, but I still expected him to be there, whether completely warranted or not.

Well for one, Beasley and Gordon play two completely different positions.

positions have nothing to do w/ the all-rookie teams. it could've been 5 guards.

Beasley over Love? I don't think so.

I agree but I think Beasley had a late surge and that left a lasting impression on the voters. Being in Minnesota also doesnt help at all.

If Beasley had played as many minutes as Love he probably would have deserved the 1st team.

But he didn't.

so he shouldn't have been there.

whatever. This is pretty pointless, as all awards are.

ok I'll admit love should have gotten 1st team over beasley but as a heat fan I'm happy. And no, Gasol did not deserve to be over beasley, I don't care if he did start.

not one heat fan has come in here talking smack, yet you still want to instigate and start something that isn't there. what exactly do you bring to the table as far as this thread is concerned?

Hawkeye15
04-30-2009, 07:56 PM
I am not gonna start a battle, but Love not making 1st team is ridiculous
Franchise leader for rebounds by a rookie
4th highest rebound rate for a rookie in the HISTORY of the NBA
3rd in the NBA in offensive rebounds per game
9th in the NBA in rebounds per game
29 double doubles (11 more than the next rookie)
Highest PER of all rookies
Highest rpg of all rookies
Scored 11.2 ppg

I am really missing something here. But, the media votes, and Minnesota never plays on national TV. But the stats alone justify 1st team.

Whatever.

WSU Tony
04-30-2009, 08:02 PM
When you have Heat fans saying it should be Love over Beasley, that's saying something. Thanks for not being a homer, seriously.

Between Love and Jefferson we could have two of the most under rated players in their respective classes.

LayZbone
04-30-2009, 08:09 PM
I'm a bit of a homer like everyone else, but I'm not blinded by my homerism.

I completely agree with you 2 ^. Love should have made the 1st team.

You know what's crazy?
You're right, he does deserve the first team. Absolutely he should have made it.
But there is a somewhat legitimate argument that he could have been on the 2nd team.

That's how freaking strong this class was.

You know these teams are pointless. Love is going to be as valuable as he is no matter what "class" team he ends up on because of a few dumb voters. Let's just enjoy how good Love is, and the rest of this damn draft class, before it's all over.

04-30-2009, 08:26 PM
Gallinari will end up being the best player from this draft.

Gallinari! Yea and Kwame Brown will be the Most Improved Player next year.

If this is true then its complete BULLcrap that Eric Gordon wasn't selected first team. He averaged 20+ppg in 2009. Michael Beasley?!

If you're just going by scoring then Michael Beasley was a better per minute scorer AND he rebounds unlike EG.

I think Gordon is easily the most overrated of this rookie class

I find this whole Beasley/Love debate to be fairly pointless. It's kind of like the Kobe/LeBron debate. Decent arguments can be made going both ways. Anyone who understand the way that life actually works also understands that things are too dynamic to say, 'this is the best,' or 'that is the best,' in most cases where the competition is as tight as it is in the NBA. On the other hand, Brook made the team, and I see no one arguing that. :D
