Have you ever wondered what the NBA would look like if there was no draft? If teams instead signed players from their immediate geographic region?

My 4 favorites from this list:

Bobcats:
PG Chris Paul (Clemmons, NC)
SG Ray Allen (Dalzell, SC)
SF Josh Howard (Winston-Salem, NC)
PF Antawn Jamison (Charlotte, NC)/David West (Garner, NC)
C Kevin Garnett (Mauldin, SC)

Bulls:
PG Derrick Rose (Chicago, IL)
SG Dwyane Wade (Oak Lawn, IL)
SF Andre Iguodala (Springfield, IL)/Wilson Chandler (Benton Harbor, MI)
PF Corey Maggette (Oak Park, IL)
C Eddy Curry (South Holland, IL)

Wizards:
PG Allen Iverson (Hampton, VA)
SG Jeff Green (Hyattsville, MD)
SF Carmelo Anthony (Towson, MD)
PF Kevin Durant (Rockville, MD)/Michael Beasley (Prince George’s County, MD)
C Rudy Gay (Severn, MD)

Knicks:
PG Ben Gordon (Mount Vernon, NY)
SG Ron Artest (Queens, NY)
SF Lamar Odom (South Jamaica, NY)
PF Elton Brand (Peekskill, NY)/Ryan Gomes (Waterbury, CT)
C Charlie Villanueva (Queens, NY)

I think this would be the better NY Knicks team:
PG Stephon Marbury (Coney Island, NY)/Rafer Alston (Queens, NY)
SG Ben Gordon (Mount Vernon, NY)
SF Ron Artest (Queens, NY)
PF Lamar Odom (South Jamaica, NY)/Charlie Villanueva (Queens, NY)
C Elton Brand (Peekskill, NY)/Joakim Noah (New York, NY)

Thoughts?

I have discussed this before. Its interesting. Its funny how much better the knicks would be with just local talent.

I always thought they should have a round robin tournament like this in the summer. It would be entertaining and players would have more pride involved.

^I like it but Im thinking that team would be competing for a playoff spot at best

Going back to the North Carolina team, here are some backups:

PG Chris Paul (Clemmons, NC), Raymond Felton (S.C)
SG Ray Allen (Dalzell, SC)
SF Josh Howard (Winston-Salem, NC)/Chris Wilcox (Whiteville, NC)
PF Antawn Jamison (Charlotte, NC)/David West (Garner, NC)
C Kevin Garnett (Mauldin, SC)/Jermaine O'Neil (Columbia, SC)/Brendan Haywood (Greensboro, NC)

Coach: Nate McMillan (Raleigh, Chowan, and NC State)

They definately wouldn't be the best, but would make it to the playoffs every year and be a dangerous lower seeded team.

The Los Angeles Lakers Regional team

PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Baron Davis/Gilbert Arenas
SF - Paul Pierce/Tayshaun Prince
PF - Drew Gooden
C - Tyson Chandler

Yeah, that team is pretty sick. The one concern though is they have no shooting, and in a half court offense, that lane is going to be clogged as hell. All of those 4 guys except for Lou aren't shooters, and they need the ball close to the basket to be effective. Can't have 4 guys at the rim in a half court offense.

I don't know many Ohio natives, but I do know Lebron James teamed with my Kevin Martin (Sac-Town) would be a deadly combo for the ages. I thought D West came out of Ohio too.
