Best player he's ever defended =/= what the thread title says

Still, even to call Roy better offensively is a stretch, but he is definitely one of the smartest players there are.

The video keeps getting messed up right before he can make a bigger fool of himself. I think NBA tv did Ron Ron a favor and corrupted the video link so no one could hear him spout bs

I love Roy, but come on now.

Ron is making a strong case that he needs to be committed to an "insane" assylum. He just needs to just "shut up" and play basketball. I can't wait for us to play him in the next round, assuming that Houston gets to the 2nd round.

Lol..yea right when they ask "better then Kobe? Better then LBJ?" the vid cuts off and goes on to the next one.

Not really a big deal, players say stuff all the time. Its just his opinion.

Roy is a solid player no doubt. But Lebron, Wade, or Kobe he is not

Brooke

he is being his typical self trying to get attention. Roy is great but better than Lebron and Kobe? Nope

NBA_Starter
04-29-2009, 11:52 PM
Brandon Roy is certainly one of the most clutch players in the game, He will be up there with LBJ, D Wade, and Kobe eventually but not yet on overall game but I'd say his clutch game is there now but anyway that's not what Ron meant by this, he is just an idiot looking for attention.

So, based on that, Roy is going to be better than both Lebron and Kobe, come on man. You do know that Kobe and Lebron came straight out of high school right? They were only 17 and 18 years old their first season and had different roles on their respective teams. The lakers had an all-star guard in Eddie Jones who started, thus having Bryant come off of the bench his first 2 seasons. Bryant started to really take off after his 3rd year, when they got rid of Jones and let him start.

I like Roy's game, he's one of the better players in the NBA, he's around the top 10 to 15 players in the NBA right now. I just don't think you can look at stats for the first 3 seasons of all three of those guys without taking into account each player's situation on his respective team.

Like I always says, its not much of a prediction if you wait for it to actually happen to proclaim it. I was just proposing a scenario in which it becomes reality. He said he is the best player he ever guarded. I don't see anything wrong with that. I bet if you asked someone like Gilbert Arenas who the best player he guarded was, he would say someone like Earl Boykins. He seems to score 30 points every game against him. Does that mean Boykins is better then CP3 or Deron Williams? No, it means he has a tougher time guarding him.

Ron even said "not defensively" when talking about Roy. I think he sorta messed up what he was saying, because he kinda flip flopped between "best player" and "best player he ever guarded". But I don't find that he has more trouble guarding Roy over other stars that wack.

Every1 knows Artest tries to stur up controversey. Can't believe him because of the best Damn Sports Show segment where he interviewed Kobe and proclaimed him as his favorite player to defense-while Kobe explained that RonRon was his favorite to score on.

The "Tru Warrior" is off that Purple Haze yall.

The day I take anything Ron Artest says seriously is the day he actually becomes a sane individual.

Artest just mentioned why he said Roy was the toughest to guard. He said in his 10 years in the league that Roy was the only player to ever score 40 on him.

I hope Artest calls Kobe "garbage" again.

All you guys trippin' out on Ron. At least he gives good post game interviews and speaks from his mind. Have any of you guys ever played Kobe ? no, Ron has played both Kobe and Roy and maybe, just maybe, he finds Roy tougher to guard. Is that so strange ?even though we know Kobe is the better player. When i played bball in high school I found the 3rd best player on my team harder to guard than the best guy on my team, its just preferences.

Anyway I at least appreciate Ron saying what he thinks. I just saw him in the post game interview giving props to the Blazers and Roy, I thought that was cool.

LOL. Artest has a bad memory. Remember the Charles Barkley game? The game where Charles Barkley announced and challenged Bavetta to a foot race. That game was Lakers v. Kings. Kobe had a triple double that game (IIRC) and had his point total at 42. So much for that argument.

I think you shouldn't talk that much about teams you just have beaten. Give credit to your own team, but ... don't talk to much about the beaten opponent. Because, it's very sure, that someone will get you wrong ... as we see in this thread.

I'm pretty neutral about Artest, but that guy doens't know when he schould better say nothing ...

Yeah I saw that. He said because of his defense.

But he did say Jordan would drop 50 on him. :D

Laker fans should not be phased by what Artest says, for one he has a right to his opinion (imagine that) for two it's a smart move by Artest to say that because if Kobe goes for 40+ that will hurt the Lakers chances. Smart move by Artest, I don't think it's going to work.

If

Roy > Kobe + Lebron

Artest beat Roy.

Therefore,

Artest best player in the NBA?

Very slick Ron. Veryyyy slickkk. ;)

Now, I'm NOT saying that Roy is better than (or equal to) Kobe or LeBron, but did anyone ever think the reason that Artest (and pretty much every other player in the league INCLUDING Kobe) thinks Roy is so good is because:

HE'S THAT DAMN GOOD?!

The entire league is heaping praise on this guy, and the only guys I've seen who say he isn't that good are online stat whores,

so it makes me wonder whether or not they've even seen him play. I've seen him live, and I can tell you, he is already the beating heart of the blazers, he is a superstar in the making.

He's just trying to get under Kobe's skin, which can tend to backfire. But it could also lead to Kobe shooting 40 times at a low percentage and not getting teammates involved.
