Game 5 Mon. April 27, Utah @ L.A. Lakers, 10:30 pm EDT TNT (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2009042713)

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Re-energized by their dominating Game 4 victory, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of motivation to close out the Utah Jazz at home on Monday night.

“It’s very important. I love Utah, but I’d rather not see it again until next year,” Bryant said Sunday at the team’s suburban practice gym. “We’ve got to be ready.”

The Lakers took a 3-1 lead by overwhelming the Jazz 108-94 on Saturday night in Salt Lake City. Bryant scored the Lakers’ first 11 points and finished with 38. Two nights earlier he was an unsightly 5-for-24 as the Lakers blew a 13-point lead in the third quarter and lost 88-86.

Although the Lakers trailed after the first quarter on Saturday night, they stunned the Jazz with 40 points in the second quarter, then held Utah to just 16 points in the third.

And Utah be done. I originally voted Lakers in 5, but then went cocky and said sweep. Although it did take arguably the worst laker performance this year for the Jazz to win, but oh well.

I really thought the Jazz would be a lot tougher than that. At the beginning of the year, they were the team I feared the most in the west. Fisher’s daughter, Tatum, is still in what he terms “the red zone” for cancer in her eye returning or developing in her other eye. He has every reason to have rage at the ready since hearing some Utah fans chant “Cancer!” at him and at least one fan being photographed yelling at Fisher while cruelly covering one eye.

I just want a call when it is deserved. We got called for love tap fouls all series and it's frustrating as hell dude. The refs call it like the WNBA when Kobe has the ball, you can't even body up on him or the refs call fouls to protect Stern's beloved Kobe vs Lebron finals matchup. LOL

That's one guy out of millions and I'm sure a small group of people chanting. Fisher and Laker fans should get over it. Believe it or not some people believe Fisher used his daughter as an excuse to get out of his contract here so it goes both ways a little bit. I choose to believe he did for her medical needs, but we do have the world renownd Huntsman cancer center here so whatever.

My take on the whole bad calls thing is that the refs like to try and keep the score close if they can because it makes for a more entertaining game. This is especially the case with Laker games as they are very popular. Sometimes it goes too far and the other team actually ends up in a potential comeback situation. I saw a lot of fouls go uncalled against the Jazz as they made a comeback, and then the Jazz got really close and the refs pull an "oh crap what did we do" moment and they have to not call a couple fouls against the Lakers to balance it out. The refs knew the Lakers won, and just try to make it more interesting. This is how the NBA works now.

I'm not bitter. I knew the Jazz would lose because the big men are soft and they need some changes. I just wanted it to go seven games.

I'm being serious with you Laker fans. You can't give up leads like you did to the Jazz to Lebron and the Cavs if you make it to the finals and play them. Yeah the Jazz fight to come back in those games but if you guys do that stuff in the finals or western finals you will be losing games.

I am a die hard Jazz hater, but the "fix" was in by the refs. Geez! The assistants should have let Sloan pummel those refs. It is embarrassing when they are trying too hard to ensure a Lakers/Cavs final. Be fair with the calls. If the Lakers were too bored to finish off the Jazz, don't punish the Jazz bench for playing like their lives depended on it.

As for Sloan, he must be getting old, cause the Sloan from years past would have sat the starters a long time ago, the bench came in and got scrappy.
