Game 3 - Thu. April 23, San Antonio @ Dallas, 8:30 p.m., NBA-TV (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2009042306)

DALLAS (AP)—After chatting with league officials, Mavericks center Erick Dampier is toning down his plans to thwart San Antonio’s Tony Parker.

The big guy is still going to get physical with the speedy point guard in Game 3, but he’s no long guaranteeing that “my first foul Thursday night is going to put him on his back.”

“I probably shouldn’t have said it like that,” Dampier said Wednesday. “Maybe the way it came out, it sounded bad. … I’m just going to go out there and play the way I’ve been playing.”

Dampier vowed to pop Parker on Monday night, after he turned Game 2 of this first-round series into a personal layup drill. Parker scored 38 points in 33 minutes, leading San Antonio to a 105-84 victory that tied the series at one game apiece.

I think this is pretty much a must-win for Dallas. After that last drubbing, if they go home and get beat again, the impact on morale and their ability to make adjustments would be highly negative, and I'm not sure if they'd recover. But whether it's game 3 or 4, I think the Spurs take one there.

 after your comments from game 2, I'm kinda shocked.

I predict TD gets tossed. Erick Dampier after body slamming TP will however not be called for a foul, instead they will call it on TP for hitting dampier in the face while gettting body slammed. :D

LoL, Spurs have 52 points with 6 minutes to play. What is the playoff low for points in history?

I wanna say the Bulls held the Jazz to 57 in the finals in 97 or 98, but not quite sure.

Spurs held to 16? 14?!? 12?!?!? point quarters?

Damn, I cannot recall a more suffocating defensive performance than that in any playoff game I've ever seen. I just got home and haven't watched the game, so I understand the Spurs could also just be shooting horribly. But man, that is drubbing the opponent to just embarrassing proportions.

The Spurs are a completely different team without Manu. IMO they're gonna have a tough time getting by the Mavs.

I hope people arent thinking the Mavs played good defense. If people did watch the game, they will have seen that the Spurs got any shot they want, just couldnt knock them down.

That wont happen game 4.

The Spurs looked like a team that had nothing left...and that may be true. As Neil Young sings "It's better to burn out than to fade away."

Ughhhh.

Well it was frusturating to watch, and a bit out of it is frusturation....but their defense really wasnt anything special. In fact it wasnt good at all, since the Spurs got pretty much all the shots they wanted wide open. Dampier played good on Duncan I guess.

It was just Dallas was absolutely on fire today, making everything they shot. Even if we made the shots we got, the Mavs probably would have been ahead, or the game alot closer due to them being on fire.

Typical Josh. Of course it couldn't have been that the Spurs just got outplayed? Dallas didn't even shoot 50% form the field or ever 40% from 3. Dirk and Barea lit it up, but the Mavs just outplayed the spurs. Sure the Spurs missed some open shot, but come on, give some credit to the Mavs for what they did.

Can you say *****? Dallas fans can admit the Spurs did a great job last game, especially on Dirk, but you want to come on here and act like Dallad didnt play well? How many times did this team step into the passing lane and steal it from SA? I was at the game and I counted 4 or 5. Get out of here with your ********.

We are at a point that if we are not making shots we have no chance to win a playoff game. Even with Manu our offense was iffy...without him, any defensive error makes our chances look more bleak.

I dont know if that was good defense or dumb offense. It was good D on the Mavs part that they took TP out of his comfort zone. They put up a wall at the rim and sagged off of everyone, the Spurs were missing alot of shots but thats what happens when role players become primary options. If TD and TP arent each getting their 30 then the Spurs have very few players who can pick up the slack get going offensively. TD is having a horrible close to his playoff career at this rate, its sad really.

That has more to do with his health than anything...it's clear he just isn't healthy enough to carry the Spurs consistently right now.
