ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Seldom-used Donyell Marshall’s new nickname is “secret weapon,” one his Philadelphia 76ers teammates greet with a laugh.

“If that’s what you call playing once in 10 games,” fellow Sixers reserve Kareem Rush joked.

For a team built around youth, Philadelphia leaned on aging veterans like Marshall to win the playoff opener against the Orlando Magic. The Sixers will likely need another strong performance from their bench if they have any chance for a repeat in Game 2 on Wednesday night.

A 15-year NBA veteran who has played sparingly this season, Marshall was perhaps the most important—and surprising—player during the Sixers’ rally from 18 points down to win Game 1. Marshall’s 11 points all came in the fourth quarter, including the tying 3-pointer in the final minute.

I think that if we are gonna have any hope of winning this series we have to take this game. The Magic are gonna be pissed, and are probably gonna play at their highest level possible. If we can somehow withstand this game and pull out a win I can see Orlando being so demoralized that they just fall apart(mainly SVG).

Go Sixers!!

It will be interesting to see how the Magic respond to that devastating loss. I'd expect them to come out with fury and deliver a KO punch in the first half, but, I also expected that from the Celtics in game 2, so we'll see.

that eye is gonna bother dwight no matter what he's saying.expect it to be another close one.but like the c's and blazers, they come back and show why they were the higher seed

Magic better play 48 mins. of basketball this game

04-22-2009, 03:03 PM
the magic will bounce back from this game

04-22-2009, 03:14 PM
Sixers will win. Iguodala will have a great game. Period.

04-22-2009, 03:15 PM
If we win the game or atleast lose by a close one, I think we win this series. But Orlando should come out with the fire and beat us...

by far the most boring series. but go sixers

04-22-2009, 04:28 PM
Shutting down Hedo is the key to victory. We'll also need another gret performance from Iggy as well as Andre Miller and Thad.

04-22-2009, 04:29 PM
Dwight should get more touches this game, and Orlando HAS to tie up the series before going to Wachovia Center. But it won't be a hard task with the young Sixers squad. Should be another good game.

18 point comeback in the end of the game with a game winning shot by Iguodala in the face of Turkoglu, I almost fell asleep, that was so boring.

Get real.

Haha at the person who said this was the most boring series. Are you sure you're in the right thread? Cleveland/Detroit thread is that way...

04-22-2009, 06:06 PM
i believe that the magic will bounce back and howard will have a great game, most defenently the magic are gonna have to play better Defense

04-22-2009, 06:14 PM
Ok, for tonights game I expect Dwight Howard to be really fired up, which means he's gonna demand the ball and he's gonna try and bully his way inside for easy buckets. Which leads to a possible advantage for the Sixers, and that is that they need to try and take advantage of Dwight's aggressive play and get their feet planted and draw charges. I would like to see Reggie Evans in on Dwight early in the game to try and get Dwight into early foul trouble, then they don't have to worry about the Magic going inside if he's not in the game, and on offense they'll be able to get to the rim.

Yeah, 18 point comebacks and game winning shots.

This courtney lee kid has impressed me this year. quite a talented kid

04-22-2009, 07:17 PM
Magic haven't come out very strong.

04-22-2009, 07:21 PM
I am kinda surprised how the Magic have come out to start this game

04-22-2009, 07:24 PM
Sixers are looking serious. I think they want this game more than the Magic -- at least they're playing like it.

04-22-2009, 07:26 PM
Andre Miller baby!! 13 points and 2 steals in less than half a quarter!!

04-22-2009, 07:31 PM

God, they're trying to give this game to the Magic! Shytty calls!

04-22-2009, 08:43 PM

04-22-2009, 09:29 PM
We might of lost this game but in all we really have been the better team.
