Game 1 - Sun. April 19, Utah @ L.A. Lakers, 3 p.m., ABC/ESPN Radio (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2009041913)

OS ANGELES (AP)—Phil Jackson padded around in flip flops and Sasha Vujacic attempted free throws off his foot at the end of practice. If the Los Angeles Lakers are worried about opening the playoffs against the Utah Jazz, it sure didn’t show.

“We’re just ready to go,” Kobe Bryant said Saturday. “Everybody is pretty relaxed. It’s a long haul so you can’t psych yourself through the roof already.”

Tell that to Laker fans and pundits, who already have Los Angeles advancing to face Portland in the Western Conference semifinals.

“We’re just not talking about stuff like that,” Jackson said. “But we won’t condemn those people, that’s their job. That’s what they have to do. They have to make choices like that, put themselves on the line. I’m not going to put myself on the line.”

The Lakers earned the top seed in the Western Conference in a runaway, racking up 65 victories to become the third-winningest team in franchise history.

They open against Utah on Sunday at Staples Center, where the Lakers are 16-3 against the Jazz since the arena opened in 1999 and have won the last six in a row between the teams.

The Lakers should take this game as easily as they did their season closer. They should be looking to show that hunger that they've been talking about all season now that the "real" season's upon us :)

I say 18 because the starters, mainly Kobe, Pau, FIsh arent gonna be playing much of the 4th and Utah will cut the lead some

Unless its blatant missed calls or 1 player on a team shoots 30 FTs or a team gets 20 less FT attempts then dont complain about the refs because there gonna miss calls and make some bad judgement calls. But if im a UTAH fan i dont complain because the Jazz get more FT attempts then any team in the NBA and i know the last game of the reg season against the Lakers they shot 47 FT attempts.

It will usually all even out in the end

superkegger
04-19-2009, 04:14 PM
Lakers dominating an overmatched Jazz team. Not surprising. Shooting 66% for the half with a 22 point lead. We're hitting outside, and without Okur, they have no length to counter gasol and bynum. I mean boozer has blocked 6 shots all year. There is just nothing about this Jazz team that the Lakers fear.

TmacBryant

Not right now, but if the Jazz make a comeback Boozer, Milsap, Kirelenko are
all going to be riding the bench due to foul trouble... No one said the Lakers would be losing if the refs weren't calling for them but it doesn't erase that it is still there...

Everyone knows the Jazz will get 30+ FT attempts at home so dont worry about it buddy, worry about your teams lack of Defense or lack of shot. Worry that Kobe hasnt even looked to get off tell the last 4 min and they are up 22 lol

Seemed like Kobe travels every time he had the ball.

Key word "getting"

Even with all those ft's. Still an easy win for the Lake Show.

Btw. Williams 45 minutes played? He may drop dead before the end of this series.

Besides jazz fans, I think everyone knew LA would take game 1.

45 minutes? Dam.

i admire the work ethic and the constant effort of the Jazz. nothing went their way and they kept fighting til the end. This series will be interesting.

Fine...I was hesitant...but since im feeling generous I throw in Kenny Thomas. Take it while it stands because i might change my mind.

I'll give you Cp3 and DWest for Thomas, and we swap draft picks

Nope. i retract my offer. Ive come to realize in the last 30 seconds that Kenny Thomas is just too young with too much potential and upside.

woah woah woah, dont be so hasty.

and we need Memo back. More to come from Deron, Boozer was outstanding, some role players stepped up...but some players really need to take a hard look at themselves, I question their commitment

sounded like he would miss the whole series.

he's European, so that means he cant play through the pain barrier
