Game 1 - Sun. April 19, Philadelphia @ Orlando, 5:30 p.m., TNT (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2009041919)

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy have mapped out a playoff plan. Now it’s time for the Orlando Magic’s star player and coach to put it to work.

A 59-win regular season has ballooned expectations and put pressure on the Magic’s leading men to make a deep playoff push. That road begins Sunday against a Philadelphia 76ers team eager to break its own trend of early postseason exits.

“If we don’t get as far as we need to go, the two people standing on the firing line are he and I,” Van Gundy said.

The duo discussed the importance of staying focused, not worrying about the officials’ calls and keeping the team motivated, Howard said.

“It’s really on me and him,” Howard said. “We’re going to be the ones to really get our team over the hump or have to carry our team. As me and him go, the team will go.”

Hmmmm, so much for an easy Orlando victory. If the Sixers can continue to limit their 3 point shooting, this game could be theirs.

See teams like Orlando don't make it far in the playoffs. I'm not saying they will lose the series but, teams that rely on the three pointer so much never get too far in the playoffs.

Hopefully people will soon recognize how good Iguodala really is. The guy has been playing at an extremely high level.

I think he's gonna replace either Granger or Caron as an allstar next year because unlike those two, the guy is the leader of a playoff team and hes the star.

ha, i couldnt help but laugh when listening to this because Bill Simmons sounds like a *****. You can tell the guy was one of those annoying kids who thought they knew a lot of **** about sports because they were too unathletic to play.

dont worry about that tool.

Where are all the Orlando fans telling us how good they are and how they will destroy LA, Cleveland, and Boston? That even may be true but hey have to get there first. Orlando will probably win this series (that isn't a given) but they have a history of being pretenders in the playoffs, and as today proves, people were right to have a "wait and see" approach to the Orlando Magic.

I don't understand that Dwight Howard can dominate all game and still be as tame as a lamb in the clutch.

Isn't it mandatory for your superstar to step up in clutch time? Is it the Magics fault for not giving Howard the ball..or is Dwight Howard not as good offensively as the media hypes it up.

Well in my opinion and apparently Stan Van Gundy's as well, you can't give Dwight the ball with 2.2 seconds because he can't get off a close enough shot most likely with that time. In a way I agree with you though in possessions before that Dwight should touch the ball. Either he'll get doubled and have a open man=open shot or he'll work deep position and try to get the closest thing to a dunk possible.

My 9ja brother did his thing. I called a philly upset so, so far so good.

Why would you have Hedo guarding Iggy on the last shot. Could have put Lewis or Rafer on him or doubled him. He is not that great a passer. This one is on the coach.

SVG should be blamed for the loss. The dude kept in the bench for an excessive amount of time, he probably thought they had wrapped up the game with an 18 point lead. They should've also ran some plays for Howard in the low post. He was drawing attention the whole game and hitting his FTs. They never ran a play for him in the last 4 minutes or so. Iggy's shot was insane, dude did some shake and bakes and wet it with Turk all over him.
